My laptop has been fine but the wife's iMac has this effect near the edges, like creeping moisture effect. Kind of depends on temperature I think, also more visible with a lot of white on screen, not noticeable with colours so much.
Has been there for two/three years, hasn't got much worse in that time. Does it go away as the screen warms up?

Just put a low heat fan over it. Cleared right up.

Maybe time to put the heating on in that room?
