I changed the battery on my car last night and left the old one outside the house. I came out of the house this morning and it had gone. I know it's windy but it definitely didn't blow away. What could a dead battery be worth to someone?
Tenner or so from a scrapyard

I'm just happy my local council took mine away for free. I wouldn't have been interested in heaving mine to a scrappy for a tenner. 24kg btw, so I'm guessing at the generous end of what they'd pay.
nothing- they did you a favour
What’s a dead car battery worth?
Take it. It's free of charge
Report it to police, but they won't find any leads
Oh I don't doubt they did me a favour.

Well played. Handed on a plate.
Yes, about ten squid at the scrappy.
I took a load of lead offcuts from a recent roofing DIY project and got £15 for it. Worth doing if there is one close to you...
I have 7 or 8 old batteries in the garage and 3 or 4 6tn (v large commercial vehicle) batteries so will have to dig them out!
It astounds me what things folk will find value in.
I had a new bathroom suite fitted a few years back (after the bath burst, with hilarious consequences). We ripped out the bog and threw it in the skip. By the time we'd got the bath out, the toilet had disappeared.
WhoTAF wants a 40-year old, second-hand, bronchitis-yellow crapper?
I can understand it with batteries which at least have some metal content but who the hell wants a 2nd hand avocado cr*pper!!😂

Someone who hasn't got a pot to piss in?
Apparently retro multicoloured bathroom suits are bang on trend at the moment. No idea why but I guess some people like to be different
A suspect has been caught & questioned but was released without charge.
if the thief drops it it'll be terminal
Shocking
Changed the battery on Mrsstus car once.
Left the old battery next to the car on the drive and went into the house for a waz.
Came back out a couple of minutes later and it had vanished.
Where will it lead?

Battery theft appears to be a positive trend.
I got £100 for a knackered 80s kitchen 10 years ago, bloke put it in his shed.
Currently they're worth about £540.00 per tonne for lead acid batteries.
I weigh them in when I've got a few.
Made £60 last week off a few, had a few hours spare so ran them down the yard, got a fire extinguisher for a quid while I was down there to make into a tubeless inflator.
Good thing you you didn't get punched trying to stop them taking it... that would be assault as well
