So...here I am on the train down to the big smoke, got a wedding this afternoon/evening and then I've all day Saturday to pish about. The wife will probably hit the Tate but that's not really my bag.....any suggestions?

Staying around tower brige and I want to keep it fairly central.
hit me with the STW collective mind

hit the pub outside the tate and top up your hangover (not the worlds best pub for atmosphere, but it brings back fond memories of a gin and mini cheddars fuelled internet date with mrs doc_blues and on a nice day its good to sit with a pint and watch people stroll along the s bank)

take a stroll eastwards down the thames, past tower bridge to shad thames and perhaps onwards (have strolled along to Greenwich before)

aquarium/eye all a bit dull if you have done them before
imax nr waterloo (behind national theatre)
soho

Take the boat to Tate Britain, perhaps?
Other top options;
The National Gallery, if only for the marvellous Stubbs paintings
The National Portrait Gallery - Always worth a visit
The Eye is very much worthwhile, IMO
Perhaps a boat ride up river to Kew if the weather's good. A very nice way to spend the day.

Breakfast at Canteen on the Southbank under the Festival Hall.

Walk along the river, take in the Eye, sights etc.

Cross the river at Charing Cross and head up to Soho for a walk around.

Look at beerintheevening.com and find some good boozers to spend the afternoon in with the Ashes. Or head to Hyde Park/Green Park depending on the weather.

Would invite you round to my house on the Southbank but I'm riding in the north this weekend..... have fun. Watch out for all those pesky "wallet inspectors".
