On the recommendation of STW I upgraded from M&S slippers to 5.10 Sleuth slip-ons. Not only are they comfy as slippers they have Stealth rubber soles enabling me to walk up the bedroom wall to get stuff off the top of the wardrobe.
I still ride a hardtail though.

Trampoline socks with the rubbery grippy bits. They really bring the stairs alive.
