Looking to take our a sim only mobile phone contract, what would be the best deal in folks experience for sub £15 per month.

ITs for teenage son so thats the budget, probably wont talk much on it but will use for usual teenage electronic comms.

Dont laugh if this is a daft question but is it possible to put internet filters on such a contract?

Cheers

S

With 02 they ask you to verify you are 18 for *ahem* certain webpages by putting credit card details in, but that only covers surfing on their 3g/gprs network, not wifi

I'm on a Three sim only plan that gets me unlimited data plus "some" texts/calls for £12.90 a month, could be a winner?

Dunno about filters.

Giffgaff as long as you have o2 coverage. The adult filter is automatic unless you unlock by proving age.

How organised are you? I've been using e2Save cashback deals for years now. £6.50 a month gets you 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 250MB of data on a 2 year Orange contract if you can remember to upload your bills at the right times.

I'm on 3 SIM only, unlimited data, lots of SMS and calls - £15 a month. You should check coverage in your area, for me in/around London its excellent and 3G data is much faster than other networks and if you have a suitable phone 4G comes free.

Not sure about content filters but the fact is kids will always find a way of they are so inclined.

IIRC there are only three unlimited data providers in the UK - Three, T-mobile and Tesco so if teenage son spends a lot of time streaming and messaging one of those would be worth a look

rocket jr is with Three 3p/min 2p/text 1p/MB or credit the SIM with £15 and get 300 mins/3000 texts/unlimited data for a month

I'm paying Tesco £12.50 for 1000 minutes, 5000 texts and 1Gig data

a lot depends if he's using data at home mainly (wifi) or out and about.

I have my kids with Tesco, can't remember the exact figures they get, but more than enough. It is also set up so they can't go over there usage or text premium numbers.

Virgin media do an unlimited contract for £15 a month. I'm sure you can have filters on that too.

I'm on Virgin £7 a month for 500MB data (and unlimited texts and 150 minutes IIRC - never get anywhere near using those allowances). That might not be enough for a teenager if he's spending a lot of time on 3G though. Has filtering on as standard AFAIK, though I've never noticed it, but as mentioned above, that's not going to work on wifi.

EE definitely has internet filters on by default. Not the cheapest tho.

Giffgaff have discontinued unlimited data £12.00 goodybag to new users & increasing price to £15 for existing users. £15 gives 5gb going forward to new users. Trying to discourage data hoggers apparently, and improve network performance as a result. Much needed as Mrs data experience woeful.
