After having a bloke out to quote me for re-pointing my patio & rendering a wall, i'm suddenly feeling rather DIY inclined & also contemplating a change of career - the wall I can tidy up myself (having filled in bits of pointing last year with a ready mixed mortar which is still there) then paint it, but having looked at how to repoint paving slabs there seems to be 1000 different expert opinions all saying the rest are shite & will fall to bits in 5 minutes.
So - as experts on everything, what's the STW officially approved pointing mix for paving slabs? 4/1 mix, 6/1 mix, wet, dry, plasticizers, polymeric, resin based?
Also, 1 pressure washer for sale - excellent at cleaning (and also removing old pointing from between) paving...
Cheers!
I believe wives are the best base for a Patio so i assume you could point with them too if you get the consistency right.
I suppose I could ask the wife if she'd actually do it - she does do everything around the house and knows everything so it would be a canter for her 🤔
I used normal three and one but with plasticiser that I mixed with a big mains powered drill and plaster mixing tool. Used a pointing gun and it worked really well. Has a copper tube nozzle that you can adjust for width.
Smashing, cheers - had read somewhere before that was the best method, will get some sorted for the next sunny weekend - roll on August 😂
Don’t do it on a sunny day otherwise it’s a sod stopping the mortar drying out before the cement has reacted properly.
