The obvious one for here is Trainspotting, but the best bit of film making I've seen is Garry Forest's Everybody's Child.

the only thing i can think of offhand is that part of 1984 (john hurt version) was filmed on roundway hill near where i live (devizes) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four_%28film%29

In contrast, the idyllic, dreamlike "Golden Country", where Winston and Julia repair for their first tryst and which recurs in Winston's fantasies, was filmed in the southwest county of Wiltshire at a natural circle of hills called "The Roundway", near the town of Devizes.

This is the countryside around my workshop (skip forward to about 1 min)

-

I keep meaning to see if I can find a TV drama made in the 90s about the early pioneers of facial reconstruction during WW2 and maybe with Richard Wilson in it. - It was filmed in and around my house before it was a house.

used to live in bampton, so the set of downton abbey.

most of the top gear (rip) countryside driving stuff was/is filmed around Charlbury/Chipping Norton, like the Peugeot bit used the double mini roundabout where I stalled in front of Clarkson himself.

295 episodes of this, just over the hill:

And a load of other shite too. Where The Heart Is is/was filmed here. They blocked our road up with film trucks for something or other with Michael Palin last year, and the local charity shop got a new paint job after featuring in a movie with Sigourney Weaver in it.

Most importantly, I freqently start my rides by heading up past here:

Bits of Warhorse filmed near us. (moorland stuff). About half of the footage in the binge drinking documentary 'unruly britannia' was filmed in Plymouth.
My favourite was a documentary about crop circles back in the day, with some pseuds and droods pontificating on a rash of new crop circles in east cornwall that the documentary crew were also filming being made by 2 of my mates and a lot of cider. 😀

Most of the exteriors were shot about 30 miles away, same area I ride my bike most weekends. Most interior shots, done just down the road.

Opening scenes from "American Werewolf in London" filmed just up the road. "Don't stray from the path" Come to think of it, I was riding that very stretch last night, in the dark, in the fog.... good job I never stopped to think about the film 🙂

Oh and the same road is used in the opening credits of the Antiques Roadshow with the grandfather clock in the old Mogie convertible.

My farm gets a brief showing in the background of a Go-Compare advert lol

Where I grew up, Kes and Brassed Off.
My mums school was used for Filming Kes, she remembers that the kid who plays the lead role was a little bastard.
Grime thorps was just up the road from Ardsleymark, where I grew up and I'm sure it was far grimmer in real life than in the film.
