Yet again im at home restraining the dog from destroying something in a frantic effort to save himself from the fireworks.

Smashing pumpkins turned up to 9 is helping distract from the noise..
Heavy rock or drum n bass for the main fireworks in 8 mins??

It's like the "%*£$%*£$%* Somme here.
Dog is going insane. Strictly is doing nothing to help.
Would dearly love to see fireworks banned.

Can you isolate the dog? I'm writing this sat on my bathroom floor (all internal walls/no windows) with the radio on. Her bed's in here with some water/food. Seems to be working as she's asleep with her head on my lap. But if I open the door she starts whining/barking frantically.

Been constant bangs since five. After the first ten minutes of her going mad we put her lead on. Seems to have done the trick as she has been laid down since

We dosed ours on rescue remedy (10 drops in a bowl of water). Started yesterday morning and he's asleep in front of the fire without a care. It's his first week with us, possibly the worst week to rehome a rescue.

I don't normally mind fireworks but it's mental in Huddersfield right now. If someone said we were being carpet bombed I wouldn't be surprised.

Probably the perfect storm, 5th falling on a Saturday and nice dry weather too.

Feel sorry for all the scared pets.

It's odd but my family have had 7 dogs & not 1 has been bothered by fireworks.

The 2 gun dogs used to yawn at them & go inside..

Me, I like them.

Made me chuckle 🙂

I have 2 mongrels. One of them doesn't seem to notice the fireworks, but the other turns into a nervous wreck.

She hides under my computer desk, but can't sit still for long, shaking and panting. Feel so sorry for her 🙁

I'm shocked that they haven't been banned from general sale. Seems like the last 1/4 of the year when kids can easily get hold of explosives.

Wouldn't bother me if they restricted sales to permit holders for organised displays or something. Maybe kept the small kiddie ones for general sale.

Ours got packed off to the in laws tonight as they live about 1/2 a mile away from anyone else. He's got a 'Thunder Shirt' on too, which seems to help calm him a bit.
Shame really as I really like fireworks, I've done a pyrotechnics display course & id love to let rip but he's not having any of it.
Strange really as he's fine with both shotguns and rifles.

How do you know if someone's got a rescue dog?

Don't worry - they'll tell you*

I used to really like bonfire night but right now at 1am with a frightened dog and 6 week old child in tears I find myself wishing that the utter arseholes who are setting off fireworks somewhere in my estate manage to blow themselves up.

Our cat has never been bothered by it before, but this year she's properly scared for some reason. Cowering in the corner whenever a bang goes off.

Been like this for ten days now, thanks to Diwali and then the 5th. I can't wait till fireworks are banned from public sale. And those sodding lanterns as well. Spent ages last weekend clearing burnt 'stuff' from the back garden.

My dog gets worse every year, so this year I've bought an electric spray that sends out calming phemerones, and also pills for the worst nights. You can buy them off Amazon.

We've had fireworks going off in the neighbourhood till 4 or 5 in the morning for nearly 2 weeks now - the combination of a baby that wakes up every time the dogs bark and the dogs barking every 20 minutes or less has been a nightmare. I finally got to sleep around 5.30 this morning only to be woken half an hour later by a magpie tapping on the window. FFS.

I really think it's time the sale of fireworks was restricted to organised displays only - as much as anything it must cause a significant extra workload for A&E units that could mostly be avoided.
