It has a road connection (was closed when i went that way at the end of May) with signs to Murmansk. A river forms the border for about 10 miles up to Grense Jakobselv..the start of the European Divide Trail. Norway and Russia have obs posts there and we had a good chat with a young Norwegian 'conscript' who loved his time in the military...despite minus 45c (without windchill) the previous winter.
