[Closed] What is this old C64 (I think) game?

It was a talk- based role play game (along the lines of Monkey Island) - you had to type commands in to make progress.

IIRC, you started in an upstairs room and you had to make your way downstairs and outside, then find a seed, water it, grow a beanstalk then climb up it. I forget what happened after that...

Help!

A text adventure, you mean? Where you'd type in "GO EAST" on the keyboard for instance? Or did you have a movable character walking around (like Monkey Island).

It sounds a bit like Imagine's "Jack and the Beanstalk" but there was no typing invovled in that.

Hmm - that looks very familiar - perhaps I am getting confused with other games (seeing as it was 40+ years ago that is possible)

If you were playing a game on a C64 40+ years ago then it probably had a time travel theme!

Release date August 1982
Discontinued April 1994

THere were 3 games:

Jack and the Beanstalk
Giants Revenge
The House that Jack Built

But none of these were text based........did you maybe just have to use the keyboard for control rather than typing commands?

Edited: I think that its this:

You can play it again here:

You dont start in an upstairs room, but I think you may be mixing up another text-based game, "Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy", with Colossal Cave, which definitely had the beanstalk bit in.

Gosh, I never knew there was a third. How could such a shit game spawn two sequels?

Granny's Garden?
It was a text adventure on the BBC computers, quite popular in schools.

My thoughts exactly, I kind of want to play it just to confirm if it's as utter tosh as I'm imagining it to be.
