from my hotel balcony (almost directly due south) I can see, right on the horizon, a large structure that seems to be 5 huge uprights, then an oblong structure and then 5 more uprights.
Does anyone know what it is? I have tried Google etc but can’t seem to locate it. Could be an oil rig but the 10 uprights don’t make much sense in that case.
A mivable oilrig. They lower the legs to reach the sea bed the rest stick up in the air?
How close in is it?
The water gets very deep, very quickly off Cyprus.
If it's close in, then very likely a jack up rig, although they normally have 3, 4 or 6 legs, not 5.
Is it something like this?
The 10 chimneys are arrange 5 each side of the oblong structure and are not attached to it in any way.
They seem to spread out in a line either side of it and the furthest out must be some 10’s of meters from the oblong.
It does not appear to be lit at all at night but I will check again tonight.
