I got a Crown Steak in a box of beef.
I've never heard of it, it's not mentioned in the River Cottage Meat book and Google drew a blank.
Any idea which bit of the cow it comes from?
Doesn't the crown bit refer to the arrangement of the cut, rather than it's origin?
*insert crown steak/crown race and fork joke here*
I don't think so. It appears to be a large chunk of meat No bone or unusual trimming. Presumably this a cut but possibly under a less common name?
Oh, in that case, no idea. Mystery meat 8)

Sounds expensive
Is it one of the these?
Edit - beaten by sas. OP your Google fu isn't up to much if that's what it is!
That would appear to be it. Didn't come up in my google of crown steak. Just loads of crown steak houses?!
Thank you. Looks like it's going to be a tasty one !
After a bit of googling I've decided I'm quite jealous of your meat.
No connection to crown steak but...
My 67 year old mother-in-law text my wife yesterday to say her father was missing and there was a steak dinner waiting for him when he got home. Que much laughter from me and a puzzled look from my wife, until I explained the euphemism. Still chuckling today.
