...would the STW masses recommend for general usage, no specific activities (well apart from keeping me warm on the way to the pub!)

Needs to be:

Windproof
Full zip
Casual styling (no bright leary colours!)
Not that expensive, ~£50 or so

So what's good for what I want?

Why fleece? It's never windproof without an additional layer of some sort.

How about a Montane Prism in lovely Primaloft????

Anything more specific than UniQlo? They don't seem to do the sort of thing I'm after.

something more like:

I have an ancient Peter Storm fleece, but that's really tatty now. I have no idea what's good value/quality in fleeces nowadays.

Lowe Alpine always made my fave fleeces. Not cheap, though.

druidh the Peter Storm one I've almost destroyed was wind proof, the Montane isn't the sort of thing I'm after, it's far too technical looking & not my style at all, I have plenty of technical waterproof jackets, just need something casual to keep me warm whilst pottering about in

Lowe Alpine Tibet looks nice C.Flashheart.

Anything else that's similar I should be looking at?

You wanted a fleece to go to the pub in. Why do you need outdoor branded clothing? Alternatively go to TKMax.

Regatta Harvey Fleece/Softshell from Yeomans - £23 down from £40

I have one for work - not as warm as my Endura Stealth, but more casual and fine over a hoody.

*edit*

The cut looks better on the body than in the pic
