Im putting a small fence on top of a block wall (blocks laid on the flat).
I have these..

So whats the best way of fixing to the wall??
Fence posts will 75mm and 750mm high. Holes in bracket are 10mm.
Screws and plugs / concrete screw bolt / expanding bolts?
I'd be using sleeved anchor bolts (and a new drill bit).
If I had dozens to fix, didn't worry about removal and had time rather than money, I'd consider cutting threaded rod and use resin & nuts.

I'd use anchor bolts too. The drilled holes are likely to be rough and possibly crumbly so screws alone won't hold a post that could be under a lot of strain.
I'd also space the posts a bit closer than normal.
I used threaded rod, drilled holes in the block and fixed with resin (but some of mine was into very old brick so I was worried about ushering expansion bolts)
Proper masonry ones will. I've fitted loads and they are rock solidscrews alone won't hold a post that could be under a lot of strain.

These. Nothing shifts them, and dead simple to use.

They look good.. I presume they are ok for exterior use.
Is it just a case of drilling a hole and impact driver them in??
I was concerned expanding bolts would crack the blocks when tightened.
Would a concrete / masonry bolt be overkill..(never had any experience of self tapping type bolts)

The main thing is how close to the edge of the block is the fixing? (And to a lesser degree thickness, when laid flat)
It's this that will determine whether you will need resin.
If close = resin
A bit close but not to close = masonry screws
Nowhere near = waz a sleeve anchor of some sort in
M8 hex head concrete screws around 90-100mm long
Something like this
