I can't be faffed with this FB and this new modern one called Myspace etc 🙂
However, twitter does hold an odd appeal, as some people I find interesting.
One is my LBS, and I think I'll sign up for twitter as he's worth 'following' in my book.
Is there anything I should avoid doing/agreeing to when signing up, and can someone please explain how the hell all these messages work, because they just look like garbage to my untrained eye.
Yes, I'm sure google will tell me, but you lot are much more succinct.
A lot are garbage, the trick is to only follow anyone who you find interesting, which is often done by reading Tweets re-Tweeted by those you have already decided are saying something you find interesting.
I follow a few people like William Gibson, SF author, (@Greatdismal), David Jones, film director, (@manmademoon),
Lauren Lavern, (@laurenlavern), but I rarely post myself.
Fb is no more a Phaff than Twitter, the exact same principle applies. I have a lot of bands and musicians that I follow on Fb, and I find it a better vehicle for keeping in touch with them for new releases, tours, etc.
I had an Fb update this morning from Alison Goldfrapp, via email, giving details of a special warm-up gig in Bristol a week Sunday, so I was able to link directly to See Tickets via Fb and book two tickets, whereas if I'd had to go through Ticketmaster I'd have been involved in interminable logging-on and verification processes that often fail while the transaction is taking place. As a result I'm a very, very happy bunny, thanks to Fb.
Works for me, others have a more jaundiced view, usually because of Daily Wail rantings about the evils of social media...
It is what you want to make of it.
