MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
We stored an all glass side table with the outlaws for a short time. they put it in their garage and, with the cold weather last winter, the glue failed and the table collapsed.
When (if...) we move into our new place, I'd like to revive the table. This means gluing it back together.
Leaving aside my skills at doing a neat job, what clear adhesive should I use?
(Or do I consign the table to the folly of the early 2000s, and get a classic Eames instead?)
Proper strength superglue I would say (available from proper hardware stores).
Glass structures such as all glass conservatories are held together with a special glass silicon
I bow down to your superior glass fixing knowledge - that sounds a very reasonable suggestion.
You may be able to get something suitable (high strength silicone) if you've got a decent tropical fish/aquarium shop nearby - they're generally just bonded glass and have to be robust enough to take the water pressure
none of the stuff on the high street will do a particularly clean job, call one of those windscreen repair places and offer them some cash or contact a glass supplier and ask them to UV bond it for you
Cheers peeps.
I have a feeling Mr Nutt may have the best answer, as the one thing I don't want to do is creat an appalling mess.
this stuff is. very strong and very clear
