So looking to get the youngest a Chromebook or similar/alternative.
Will be used for web, writing (she like to write stories), youtube and doing her online school work over the coming weeks.

Any recommendations or alternatives?

Don't want to spend a fortune.

Thanks

Is her school all-in on Google Docs etc for teaching?

My daughter is younger but I picked up an ex-corporate Lenovo X240 a few weeks ago for less than £150. I5, 8GB RAM, SSD disk, Windows 10, etc. The X and T series are really well built, great keyboards, and despite being a few years old still absolutely fly for standard windows/office tasks.

In all honesty it sounds like any Chromebook will do the job. Longevity isn't really a factor these days for that kind of work.

My 8yr old got an Acer Chromebook for birthday and she loves it. I got it from AO and paid about £200. It's worked faultlessly but the one thing that has been a disappointment for her is I set hey up an email address so she can have hey own account which I can manage as a parent but due to the age restrictions you can't use traditional you tube, only you tube for kids.

Just ordered a Lenovo S340 4gb RAM 32gb SSD direct from Lenovo.
Created an account & signed up to their news letter and got 10% off and another 5% with Top Cash Back.
Comes in at £200.
