Hi all
I get married on Friday evening and as yet have not sorted out any food.
It's just going to be a buffet, there will be about 100 people there, and I have a Costco card.
So far we think
Chicken
Indian snack bits
Wraps
Sandwiches
Pasta dish
Bread and cheeses
sausages and sausage rolls
chopped up veg with hummous
Potato salad.
Everyone we speak to says to get less than we think we need as people will mostly be drinking.
What else would you expect to see at a buffet? Not cheese and pineapples on sticks, and I have more time than money to throw at this so I dont mind a bit of effort. Things that can be done the day before are best.
Cheers
Steve
soup in a basket?
As well as the type of stuff you've suggested, we also did a big bowl of fruit with whole apples, satsumas, grapes and some other bits on it - that went down really well. As did a cheese board with crackers.
Virtually no effort needed.
Always good to give it a theme. For my 40th we did a curry buffet all easily made the day before, somosas, bhajis four kinds of curry and a load of rice.
Sausage rolls are almost always pretty nasty.
On the other hand, get a big crispy pork pie from a good butcher 😀
Quiche is good if you can get it warmed through on the day - doesn't matter if it cools down again, but cold gluey out of the fridge pastry is horrible.
Wraps will fall to pieces.
BFO bain marie full of curry? 😆
Don't forget the mini pork pies! Nice with slices of apple.
Couple of cheapo cream sponges always go down well.
Crisps for the fussy kids?
Big bowl of peanuts.
leave it to the professionals:
WTF!!! No cheese and pineapple on sticks, I mean really WTF?!!
*walks off in a rage, shaking head, muttering 'some people pah'*

I usually find there isn't enough !
Egg Sarnies, Pizza, coleslaw, vol au vents...
I would quite fancy this: http://www.bigroast.com/hog-roasts/ Does up to 110 people, job done. But the Costco buffet sounds good too!
