MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
I'm 22, single and a student. I'm currently on a work placement so I'm actually not that poor. I've got a budget of £2k and need some new wheels. Want something that the honeys will dig, will fit a bike in the back and is reasonably reliable. Hit me with suggestions folks!
Clio 172
How big?
Honda Civic?
Many of the bigger usual recommendations on here might sting a bit for insurance.

My insurance isn't actually too bad. I've got 5 years no claims. I'm just having to pay a £200 excess for being under 24!
Ahahaha "fanny magnet" she looks moist.

Seriously?
Buy a fiat multipla, and take all the seats out. You don't deserve the honeys.
Berlingo

Apparently it was the Twingo as the front seats would fold flat and the handbrake/gear stick wouldn't get in the way. Apparently.
Bloody hell, I'm not looking for the ultimate dogging wagon. Just something remotely respectable.
Have a look round for an old focus, should do the job if you find a good one.
This is stil STW isn't it?

As long as you can get insurance on them being u25.
£2k will get you a decent mk2 MR2. Insurance shouldn't be horrendous if it's a UK model (i.e. non-turbo), will get mid-30s mpg if you don't drive like a pleb, "honeys" may well dig a two-seater sports car, you'll get a bike in the passenger seat & footwell if you take the wheels off, the boot is large considering the type of car, and they're pretty much bulletproof mechanically.
That or a 1.6 zetec Focus.
T sport celica. Fulfils all your criteria. Surprisingly frugal when driven with manners and can fit a bike in with the back seats down no problem. Always regretted selling mine, traded in for a diesel seat, bad times
Bit over budget but here you go

Was in a similar situation (on placement, after another car) so went for this... [img]

I ended up paying just over half your budget and spent the rest on a few repairs to end up at about £2200 all in. I also had a focus but ended up selling it as have a bike rack for it that carries 2 bikes, it's also cheap to insure (~£250 aged 22) and will do a 5.3s 0-60
Misses on the reliability front though...
Mine has a 1.8VVC k-series putting out about 170bhp, but most are 100-140bhp and can be found for well within your budget when they do occasionally come up for sale.
Get a boot rack.
