MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
I've got CRT TV sat around doing nothing, so I want to use it with my Turbo Trainer and the sufferest videos.
My netbook has a PC monitor type output on the side, so what type of lead do I need to connect from this monitor out put to scart?
I havent got a clue what to google.
Ta
PC monitor type outpu
That could be VGA or DVI, or a few others. Any more hints?
Its a Samsung netbook of probably about 3 years vintage. The one which was most recommended at the time.
I can plug our Dell monitor from the desktop straight in to it....
Is this the sort of thing I need?
Only if you have an S-Video output.
otherwise, assuming that you have a VGA output, this should do:
otherwise you need a DVI to VGA adapter as well.
I am not sure I have seen a DVI to SCART adapter.
That would work IF you have component in on the telly. If not you need to convert the signal comping out of the laptop into something the telly understands via a box like wot TurnerGuy suggested.
I used to run my freeview box through a PC monitor in a similar fashion...
Oh so its not as simple as just sticking a SCART thing on the end of those 3 leads then...
So if I'm getting this right now, its not so much about what the netbook outputs, but what signal the TV understands, and basically because its an old ish TV, probably about 10 years old, its unlikely it will be able to read the signal.

No, one option might be a cheap scan converter for the picture but you're also going to need to get audio in to the telly I assume. That lead would only work if the netbook can put out component on it's vga connector which is very unlikely. Vga out is RGBHV H & V being the sync signals, component video is RGB with sync carried alongside the G.
