As per title really. Do you have guest rooms, play rooms, studies, sex dungeons etc?
Shite, I mean obviously not taking a dump in.... Although at times does vaguely resemble a landfill.
A pointless indulgence.
Shite
+1.
One is an office and the other is guest room/drying room/store room.
Cellar Meth lab
Attic, deformed uncle storage
Outside toilet, skins
One for guests, the other a general dumping ground for "stuff".
No spare room here. If somebody has one they don't need I'll take it. Have a new arrival due in November and it's not the same make as the current one.
Spare room? If it has a use its not a spare room ๐
The second bedroom in my flat is a bike store / workshop.
There is no spare room. In fact one of ours sleeps downstairs in what should be a study as its a three bed house with five of us in it.
bicycles and shite.
A guest bed. Underneath the pile of shite we are accumulating for whoever is packing for their next trip away.
Under the guest bed is my lads old train layout.
In one corner is the desktop computer and printer.
Rest of the room taken up by the ever developing ironing pile.
Just guests
One is an office and the other is guest room/
This.
You think I'm admiting to having spare rooms on a public forum. Someone will be sending demands for tax.
We have two guest rooms and one bedroom/spare room set up as a salon.
The spare front room has a pool table in it, so it's a kind of games room.
One as a guess room. One as a dressing room and one with 16 bikes in.
Computer room / dumping ground.
Considering turning it into a turbo den, but bit tight for space.
It's not really <my> spare room but I've occupied it. 3d printer, shitloads of packaging material for my ebay store, rifle chronograph, it's basically a clean garage.
I have 2 (I live alone). The bigger 1 contains books and cycling clothes. And a bed for my boy to sleep in, or "guests" if he's not here.
The other contains the computer, NAS, a big printer, I sideboard fulla crap and (ahem) a load of video tapes waiting to be ripped to dvd. ๐ณ
We have two, the kids sleep in them.
Hmmmnnn.
Two of us, four bedroom house.
So, three 'spare' rooms. Dressing room for Zoe, office/work room (and general dumping ground), and guest room (doubles as storage for all my biking clothes and gear).
I sleep in it
Guest room, bike/kit room, office, and other guest room
Spare oom? - mine has a magic wardrobe, full of fur coats
Games room for the kids, big telly, PS and XBox, PC and speakers, also used for drying the washing ๐
Currently three have varying levels of clutter, due to there previously being three people living in the house, me, my mum and step-dad*.
Now there's only me, and much of the clutter associated with my now deceased folks has been donated to charity shops and clothing banks, and a steady reduction in accumulated personal crap will result in eventually having a reading room/library, a small work room, and whatever I decide to do with the other spare room.
*Three-bed 30's ex-council house with two downstairs rooms and a kitchen, I bought the house, they lived with me for as long as they were alive, for obvious legal reasons.
Limited funds dictates how fancy things can go, but time is abundant.
matt_outandabout - MemberThere is no spare room. In fact one of ours sleeps downstairs in what should be a study as its a three bed house with five of us in it.
Bloody Catholics.
I store my children in mine.
Office for winter, spare bedroom for guests any other time. I'd say in summer it's 99% completely unused.
Big one has a guest bed & piles of clothes.
Smaller one is my office & also has bike clothing/kit in it.
For a while, it was the out of sight, out of mind hoarding room. But these days it's the man cave, with fish tanks; road bike; bike spares; pc etc.
One I was sleeping in as our daughter is still cos leering, I've returned to sleeping 3 in a bed so the spare room is now a dump. The other was too small to be a usable bedroom an archway has been knocked through from our room to make a dressing room.
Downstairs the garden room should be a great room but it's also a dump as it's accessed through my office so wife and daughter can't use it during the day.
Only counting bedrooms, as the others are 'general living space':
One used as a home cinema/Hi-Fi room
One has been appropriated as 'walk-in' cupboard
One is a study
Another is used in case we have guests
One office/cat's room.
One guest/hobby/junk room.
One resembles a guest room - full of stuff
One is an office plus stuff
One looks like a poorly organised landfill .
It's not spare, it's my office and I'm working in it now.
Sort of.
One is a guest room and gets used as a temporary store for washing that needs to be put away.
The other is supposed to be an office/study, but has just turned into a dumping ground for stuff we can't decide what to do with, or don't want to have to deal with sorting out....!
One has wall to wall Ikea Billy bookcases, so we call it 'the library'. I just dump 'useful' things in it, like the huge Lego MB truck I got for Christmas a few years ago.
I sleep in it because I'm useless apparently.
Surfboards, bikes, two wardrobes with outdoor kit in (wetsuits, cycling gear, running gear) tall boy with all my cycling socks/under layers/gillets/shoecover/tubes/small tools/oils and greases, a cycling shoe rack and underneath that is another rack where all my spare tyres and helmets live etc. etc. Then another small tall boy with all my surfing bits in fins/leashes/touchup paints/gel coat/spare stomper pads etc. etc. An old otterman has my windsurfing kit in harness/mastfoot(s) extensions/fins/foot straps etc. etc.
I have another spare room which has a double bed in and another wardrobe which is used for family and friends when they come to stay.
I'm organised.
Hoarding Mrs dpfr's crap, like every other square inch of the house! I dream of skips.....
Lego/Sylvanian families room, sewing/craft/present wrapping room and a toy room/guest room I may get a room when the kids move out.... ๐
My daughter recently moved out, so had plan to turn her room into a winter training room ... set up zwift and smart trainer, floor mat and fan.
Tried it the other day ... way too much sweat splashing about to be doing it indoors ... so rollers back in garage.
Wife has taken ownership of room for ironing & vacuum cleaner storage.
Spare room?? No chance. Guests either get our room, or are on the sofa. MiL stays in the pub when she visits.
Sometimes we let the kids use the ballroom for an impromptu game of five-a-sides.
"One for guests, the other a general dumping ground for "stuff"."
This.
Plus the east wing of course, but I can't remember what's out there. I can't be bothered walking all that way just to have a look.
Guests and animals....
The missus moved in a few months ago, and she used to keep a bearded dragon and tortoises in the front room! Wasn't having that so they got relegated to the spare room.
Other than that just storage.
The second bedroom in the flat gets used for the cat litter box/feeders, storing bicycles and working on bikes if required.
However, all that stuff gets dragged out and put in my bedroom if I have airbnb people staying - it also has a sofa bed
One is an office and the other is guest room/
+ another
The missus moved in a few months ago, and she used to keep a bearded dragon and tortoises in the front room!
Is that a euphemism?
One 'study' which is filled with her rubbish and a boy's toys room which is full of important things like HiFi, records, Lego, old cameras that will never work again and musical instruments that haven't been played for a while.
Downstairs guest bedroom which usually has someone or other in it, at the mo it's the granddaughter.
One is a laundry room (was supposed to be a nursery) and the other is used for camping/sports/Army kit. It's known as the G4 room.
If the cellar counts as a spare room then it's got my home office, technical lego and drum kit in.
The old 1's n 2's are in the spare room, along with about 1000+ vinyls. I'm now considering putting a racing sim in the room or under the stairs, just have to find a new place for the 3D printer ๐
One is a guest room. I ue another as a bedroom if Mrs Z is having a restless night and I go and sleep there to get some kip. The smallest bedroom is used as a storage room.
None of which seem pointless to me.
We actually have a front dining room downstairs, which faces north east and is on the road so it's a miserable gloomy room despite having a wood burner and a warm colour scheme. While my MIL was dying with cancer it became a hospice room full of equipment and for that it was quite good as the nurses and carers could nip in without needing to go upstairs. Apart from that it gets no use at all so that's a valuable lesson for when we build the dream house in Scotland. Upstairs we have a box room and a spare bedroom, which do get used for guests occasionally and at other times as cat bedrooms.
One guest room which I may use if called out on standby, the other is a study, the final one is used for (clean) bike storage.
Showing off that we have spare rooms.
I'm not allowed to store so much as a winter blanket in either as it wouldn't go with the decor!
My OH is weird.
[edit] We already have a study, 'craft room', and garage for work and hers/his hobbies respectively and a loft for storage.
The Bigger one:
Office
Film watching/videogame playing
Lego
Magazine storage
Turbo
The Smaller one:
Bikes
the upstairs one is used for drying clothes and storing stuff like ruck sacks, sleeping bags, tents and camping stuff. The downstairs one is used to store bikes and as somewhere to do yoga when it's raining or too cold to go outside.
One is an office and the other is guest room
Another +1, though both also have outdoor stuff stored in them, but both are tidy! I cant cope with clutter. Poor p20 has learnt to live with me!
Guest room, office, craft room, bike room, staff.
Hang on, are we talking the Winter or Summer residence?
The spare three bathrooms, sometimes take a dump in them just for funzies.
The four spare bedrooms are just empty.
I'd love a spare. House is wall to wall with mrsmf's stuff, and if not hers, the kids. So the problem with wanting a spare is that I'd have to claim it by filling it with crap before anyone else did, and then it would be unusable anyway.
Our spare room doubles as a guest room (fold out sofa bed)/gym space/pole room (yeah, spinning pole, wall of mirrors..normal like..)
It's got Karndean flooring, so more suited to its spare room duties than 'room duties'..
DrP
A gym, a home office, a room for the cats, a room stacked with furniture I've inherited but not disposed of yet, a workshop, and then of course there's the proper spare room for guests.
Three of us in a 4 bed house, 1 spare room has mostly wife's clothes and the other is a drying room - both have beds in.
I suppose we have a spare room downstairs - it's got my turbo, weights and a pool table in it. Son has the biggest downstairs room as a play room which would be spare but it's supposed to be a dining room but we eat in the kitchen.
One is a guest bedroom, one a study and the other a "chuck it in there, close the door and forget about it" room.
