Daughters school did it today, for some reason.

One of the (male) teachers went as The Boy in a Dress. Brave chap.

I'm dressing in a round rubbery suit, oozing blood.

A character from The Grapes of Wrath.

My boy is 10. He went in as "Boy in a Dress". My boy has more guts than I will ever have. He pulled it off with great success. I am very, VERY, proud of him.

Ginger child #1 was going to go as Ron Weasley. But he had a hair cut this evening. So it's now probably Tintin.

Is there a character in a book who wears a Helly Hansen survival suit and a climbing harness?
If so, I'll be dressed as him.

I can't remember if I left any trousers in my commute bag last night so it's a bit of a lottery.

Bregante that's pretty nifty..

My two have decided to go as the popular Harry Potter and Dobby

Though our neighbour's lad came over last night asking if my son had a black lazer, apparently he meant black blazer - he's going as 007. Well a spy of some sorts in case you lot are wondering what a 7 year old is doing reading Ian Fleming.

Elder one has a tiger onsie. Tried to persuade him to go as Hobbes from the Calvin & Hobbes cartoons. Apparently not. He's gone as a Ninja expecting he'll be able to find a book with one in it in the school library.

Younger one has gone as Tintin, complete with quiff and an 18" long Snowy. Not bad for no preparation.

Good effort Bregante.

Jr_Bandito #1 had the same idea (but with a simpler mask)

Little un went as Silky from the Faraway tree.

Ages were spent last night putting her hair in tiny plats so she had nice wavy hair when they were taken out this morning.

Our two year old has not stopped going on about the monkey from Julia Donaldson's 'where my mum' so he has gone as a monkey. He would not sit still this morning for a photo so will try again tonight.

Hmmm.. our daughter just had to take her favourite book in to school to discuss it. No dressing up (thankfully).

My 5 year old is going as Elsa from Frozen, obviously.....

From the book...?

Isn't Frozen supposed* to be based on "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Andersen?

* (Disney changed the entire plot, characters, and motivations, but they did keep some snow).

Bond, James Bond.

Am I allowed to point and laugh at parents that sent kids to school in Star Wars outfits? Or don't I understand as I don't have kids?

Lovely story that one. I reckon mum knew the school would be upset, but she made a fair point. It seems depicting violence is fine, but not sex.

littlest went has spiderman but I couldn't find his spiderman book this morning, eldest went as batman and took his avengers book, which hasn't got batman in, he did have iron man and spiderman outfits to choose from which were in his book but no, had to be batman.

So double fail there 🙁
but rest of school seemed to have gone with the mash's version of bookday anyway so meh!

It seems depicting violence is fine, but not sex.

A few years I started watching a u certificate DVD with junior and there was so much violence I took it out, cut it in two and binned it (American film). On the other hand, more than a kiss and it would get a higher certificate.

Showing what happy, healthy, loving parents do whenever they get the chance is banned, but showing violent, illegal behaviour is not. We live in a sad world.
