In this time of austerity, surely we should only be giving free seconds to hardworking families who deserve them?
I don't see why benefit claimants should get this second. It's not as if they've earned it.

Good shout. If we didn't waste leap seconds on benefit claimants, immigrants and criminals then there would probably be enough left over for decent hardworking people to get a full leap minute.

Would of been more useful to have the leap second sometime this afternoon, maybe 1:30 is so people could have had a longer lunch break.
