[Closed] What antivirus for android phone?
My forum search fu is weak today.
What are people using? Just been hacked and want to stop it happening again.
(One in a million fluke I got hit as I'm very careful with attachments normally)
Non needed really.
What was the nature of the hack? Antivirus can't prevent you opening dodgy attachments.
I use opera browser as it has built in proxy/vpn and ad block, so it keeps you pretty safe when surfing.
I don't bother
Might not have been the email - you'd have had to override unapproved app installation and given it permission to do dodgy stuff.
It was the YouTube hack - someone did really post a clip of me last week after a ride, so when a cycling friend appeared to send me the "is this clip you?" message I fell straight into the trap ๐
Was it genuinely a link to a YouTube clip or was it a fake link that took you to a dodgy site, and then what? Did it ask you for permission to do something?
Normally you have to approve of things to get hacked on Android.
Viruses are typically sorted out by security updates but sadly a lot of phones take forever to get updates from manufacturers. Really need to split the core OS and security updates from manufacturer fluff.
Interested though if you got hacked simply by viewing a video and that if it was genuinely YouTube site, not a fake site hosting it. Obviously it's not always easy to tell.
Someone sent me a video link via Messenger today.
I obviously didn't open it
Don't open links sent to you by email. It's not that hard, no need for antivirus on a phone.
You can check on the actual email address it's been sent from by clicking 'view details'. Dodgy emails are pretty easy to spot.
