Pocket cast, seems to work well and just discovered it works with android auto.

+1 for PocketCast, got fed up of Castbox's endless ads and popups so paid the £1 or whatever it was to get this instead.

Seamless so far.

Really happy with podcast addict, loads of customisation so you can get it to do whatever you want.

Player FM here, seems simple to use, but I didn't really shop around very much...

I would be interested to know the most efficient in terms of phone battery life though...

Thanks for all the responses, pocketcast is obvs the most popular but I'll check out a few reviews and see if any of these sound like they'd be particularly suitable for my needs.
