Listed each week at a huge £2, why, what, who, how?

Confuses me every time I see it

I was tempted to buy it just so I don't have to see it anymore.

It matches the silent Shimano hub.

I'm intrigued too. I hope the seller replies here with an explanation.

Nut on the top of a fork

Yeah but what about the socket?

Not many forks around these days that take imperial sockets, maybe an old Stratos or something like that.

I was tempted to buy it just so I don’t have to see it anymore.

Same but then remember I have absolutely no use for it.

Still absolute dog sh*t vs the old style one…

This always cracks me up, especially when the same people have a fit when chain reaction essentially regressed to the old STW classifieds model.

The old classifieds were shite, maybe if there was a working search function you could justify it but without that it was just an utter mess that you gave up on by the third page, maybe the tenth if it was a slow shift.

He doesnt want to post though so you'll have to travel to Cheshire to meet up wth him. Click into the ad and it says £3 as well. No wonder he hasn't sold it....

No need, any bargains were sold long before they made if off the first page. It worked well because the speed of it encouraged sellers to price sensibly so it would sell quickly, which meant more people checked it, which meant more buyers, which made everything run smoothly. Not clicking through and finding the same 10-15 featured adds all the time. The new one would make sense if it was busy enough to justify sub categories. There's not much point in having filters for 29er/hardtail/large if there's only one for sale.

Maybe STW could give us the old one back to run along side it?

The new classifieds, overall, are much better*. I've not bought anything from here in years. I used to spend an absolute fortune on "bargains" on the old classifieds. With them just being there coupled with the fast turn-over pace encouraged spontaneous / rash purchase decisions.

*from a £ kept in my pocket POV.

I don't need a bargain, I need a specific widget but I can't find one. Oh look, now I can (kinda). The only thing that needs fixed is allowing people to post in top boards rather than sub boards needs to stop as it makes drilling down harder.

DW and SDH had a system where there were seperate boards once something got busy enough to warrant it. You could easily find what you were looking for and stuff still got sold albeit for a sensible price rather than "better price it low enough that it sells in a few hours".

Come to think of it we loved this place, people with too much money selling stuff at silly cheap prices was great for the teen - grad crowd.

I assume there’s a coded message in there for some dark web password.

I assume there’s a coded message in there for some sort of dogging meet-up.

Come to Cheshire and check out my socket.

Is it the right size to fit various Park Tools that for some stupid reason have 1” spanner flats and no 1/2” drive to allow use of a torque wrench? If so I may buy it if Halfords weren’t closer than Cheshire

The new classifieds are awful the old ones you could spend hours lost in and get some great stuff , I barely bother even looking these days when previously I visited it more than the chat

Thread digression. But my local Gumtree has had this ad running for easily 18 months on and off.

https://flic.kr/p/2owTLED

I’m so tempted to message and wind the guy up but I’m clearly too nice really.

Seriously £1550 for a 15? year old Scott Mtb that’s hardly got a single thing going for it.

Maybe a new ‘optimistic ad’ thread needed.
