Hi all,
New house with a stone shed at the bottom of the garden, however it's wet inside. The floor looks fairly new with some sort of membrane running through it, the roof is slate and is visible from inside. This morning the inside of the roof was covered in beads of water and the rafters the slates are nailed into were soaking wet. I've seen beads of water on the walls as well. There now appears to be mold growing on some of the wooden surfaces in there. 🙁
Not sure if there is an actual leak or whether its more of a ventilation issue?
if it was wet/damp everywhere with no obvious sign of leaking then it is condensation or lack of heating if you prefer
I doubt you will eliminate it all whatever you do.
Pics?
Sounds like condensation but wouldn't think enough to get the rafters soaked. Also it sounds like no felt so ventilation with slates would be quite good
So need to work out whether the slates have been fixed to the correct guage
As per other thread - sounds like a condensation issue.
Is there any ventilation ?
Wen there is heavy rain go stand in the shed , if it doesnt leak that eliminates leaking.....
If it leaks fix it
If its just condensation get some blown foam insulation or jablite if on the cheap and cover the interior of the roof space.and install some air bricks.
Just done my garage and its helped no end.
