ok just gone to upload the videos i took today on my camera and well, they are all in a funny format... .mts and .CPI anyone know how i can open them up like normal and use them in iMovie?

A bit of googling would suggest that your best free option is the software bundled with the camera. There is apparently a free plugin for Quicktime etc, but I got bored searching at that point. Off you go.

iMovie assuming its a newer version can read AVHCD if that is what they are, my panasonic uses that or the lite version and i can import to imovie no problem.
