MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
So, it's upon us. Round 2 of this wonderful competition, that's mad even more wonderful by the fact that we never have to wait more than a year for it to come around again.
I think the results are fairly predictable this weekend...can't see anything other than France, Wales and Ireland taking victories; it's the manner in which those victories will be won that is in question...
Rumours of England training with 14 men this week anticipating the inevitable sin-binning of one of their forwards for a professional foul. Shane Williams missing? Not the disaster it once would have been though Sackey won't look the usual muppet he looks if he has to actually tackle someone. Someone will simply fit in - Wales have depth to match their arrogance.
Plucky Scots lasting all of 10 mins before getting thrashed in France...sorry, I can't see anything other than the Scots getting mauled, France being the sore beast after last week's lesson in discipline from the Irish. I doubt Scotland will even cross the line with ball in hand. Interesting to see the Evans lads though - they look a genuinely exciting prospect but Scotland needs more than a few flair players...can anyone remember a more on-sided contest as that between the Welsh and Scottish scrum last week?
And tomorrow, the green machine carries on the march towards gland slam weekend in Cardiff a few weeks hence. However, it will not be an easy match. Italy have decided to play with a scrum-half that's actually done the job before and Bergamasco will hopefully be the great flanker he always is. Their forwards looked like they were pushing England backwards at times last weekend so if they go basic, they could prove a stiffer test than that joke of a first half last week.
So predictions?
Wales by 15
France by 20
Ireland by 10
I think you are about right. Scotland have a decent record at upsetting the French over the years but not this time I fear.
My Guess - plucky defence from Scotland and an open game - Scotland will lose but will play well.
Wales will thrash England. Too strong and fast up front, too clever and fast out back. 3 tries to nil. 3 England sin bins, massive penalty count against England.
Ireland should beat Italy.
I'm looking forward to
Gethin Jenkins v the massively sky overhyped Sherrrrrrridaaaaaan
Sheridan could well find himself with a choice of sphincters to defecate with tomorrow morning.
except gethin and sheridan are both loose heads so he will be up agaisnt Adam in the scrum
sheridan will still be shown up for the hyped up mediocre player he is - again.
I simply can't see Wales thrashing England - England will surely play ball-up-the-shirt rugby will they not? Acutally, thinking about it, it's one thing about the ELVs...they're encouraging open rugby. I didn't like them at first. I always hated rolling mauls but in recent years, with Munster perfecting them, I've become a fan again so it's a subjective thing...not sure if I like them being pulled down now...
I think England will go for up the shirt rugby - and kicking for territory. However wales will counter attack off the kicks and the welsh backrow will gain a lot of turnovers. england will dominate possession and t3rritory - but Wales will dominate the scoreline
Agreed - a wonderful and beautifully self-contained sporting competition. Love it for its passion and poetry.
Wales played well last week, but were not as good as they have been. There's always the danger of being dragged down to the same level of play as England. Wales will win, but it will be a much closer game than the boyos in the valleys think.
Scotland will continue to show that, while they've the odd player who has some skills, they are well off the pace - particularly up front - and the French will punish them for it.
Ireland look good. With O'Driscoll apparently returning to his pre-spear form, there's an opportunity for them to give Italy a hard time, who looked nothing like the side they have been in the last couple of years. However, the Italian forwwards can be very good on their day, and it would be good to see them take it to the Irish up front. Ireland to win pretty comfortably.
So am I the only nervous Welshman in Wales then? Shane will be missed even in a "quiet" game last week, he made one try and scored another!
Glad Powell's in though he would have really been missed
I think we will win it but tighter than most Boyo's think....go on Wales prove me wrong!
Last year one of my English mates texted me "16-6 worried?" at half time...needless to say I had the last laugh!
Plucky Scots lasting all of 10 mins before getting thrashed in France...sorry, I can't see anything other than the Scots getting mauled
Lasted 40 mins without getting thrashed so far - but the French do look the more dangerous side
Another gallant defeat - Bah!
Scotland didnt do too badly really.
Looking forward to the England Wales clash now!!!!
Getting beat is getting beat. Still Godman looked more in control and the Evans bros looked good. Refs decisions did not go Scotlands way but hey ho - that does not lose games. 20 odd errors does
phew!...onwards and upwards....as close as I expected
Erm, is it time to sing the Hymns and Arias again? I have a bit of a sore head........
😀
GWLAD!
