Planning on taking the Mrs away for a weekend without the kids, going to go pukka so would like a nice hotel/lodge/cottage etc with country walks, good food, roaring fire etc etc, with a max 3hrs radius from Glasgow. Any good suggestions?

Laird House would be good if it's available. Would be surprised though TBH.
Think it's less than 3 hours from Glasgow, just outside (outwith?) Dumfries.
Edit - Maybe not, I missed the food part. It's properly Self Catering, but near the town, and there's a bangin little chippy in Lochmaben
