Hmmm, looks like the webhosting company I have been with for over 10 years may have folded. Last Sunday all my Email accounts with them started asking for a password. I tried logging into my CPanel but it won't recognise my details. The phone number of their service centre appears to be disconnected and nno-one is answering Emails. Funnily enough though my webpage is still accessible.

From all the above I conclude that this hosting service is deceased!
So a few questions

1. Should I give it a bit longer in case there is a major server melt down and it just needs time to be sorted?

2. Accept that the hosting company is no-more and find an alternative. To that end can anyone recommend a cheap and cheerful hosting company for a website with 2-3 static pages of info and a couple of Email addresses?

3. How exactly do I go about getting my Domain name (which I pay for through another company) transferred to another hosting firm if I do not even know 100% what the problem with my current host is?

Cheers
WF

oh - that does look a bit dead!!

So, you pay the other company money to manage your domain name for you? Fine - you can tell them to point it anywhere you like. You don't need the defunct company to do that.

Do you have a copy of your website you can host elsewhere?

Yeah, I have the website here (in fact it is in desperate need of attention). I only really keep it up to have a continued web presence of the farm and a phone number. I no longer sell anything direct. But I do kind of rely on the couple of Email addresses I run under the same domain name.

Does anyone have any views on 123reg? I've got a domain with them and now need to set up a small business website, probably based on Wordpress. The domain/email has been ok but their website is truly horrible to use, which is why I'm hesitant.

I use 123Reg for buying the domains but never used them for hosting. I JustHost.com for hosting, they used to be very good but not so good these days.

Likewise. But my website is side-loaded onto a mate's server, so I can't really help with that.
