Lady freind is disabled and in a wheelchair, lives alone with live in carers overnight and part of daytime.

But recently there have been a series of local burglaries,so i thought a web camera fitted in the kitchen or hallway,to cover front and back doors.

But being a total numpty with anything electronic what do i need and how do i do it,to broadcast to her mums or other relative or freinds house using a password.

She has a laptop and BT internet and a wireless modem.

Most can be monitored from an App - I have one inside my garage and it allerts my phone if triggered. Bit of a pain when I'm working in the garage and it keeps my phone buzzing. You can also set zones, so not accidentally triggered. Ours is by Lorex.

I've got a few Neos cameras around the house. Quality is surprisingly good given how little they cost, and will alert via an app if they see movement. Can put a microSD card in them to give a continuous recording if you want it - 32GB gives a couple of days buffer. Limited cloud storage for free, some more features if you pay a few quid a month.

Hardware is the same as a few others, but Neos are a UK company and write their own firmware so all GDPR compliant and stuff, not just sending data to a random Chinese company.

We used some quite cheap cameras available on Amazon called 'Clever Dog' - they're really intended/marketed as pet monitors but work quiet well for your application. The cameras connect wirelessly  to the modem in the house (just need a power supply nearby (usb charger and lead) you can then pair that camera with a mobile phone. A phone can connect to several cameras but I don't think several phones can connect to one camera.

You can put a memory card inside the camera and set it to record whenever it senses movement and you can access those recordings via the phone. You can also set things up so that you get a notification on the phone every time the camera senses movement (and set times of day not to get notifications so you're not being bothered when its not important. You can also monitor the camera through the app at any time, start recordings or take stills if needed and also talk over the phone via the camera.

The phone app isn't brilliant - its quite a head scratch to set up - but once up and running its fine.
