finished the book last night. very engrossing, well written... an excellent book in my humble opinion.

anyone read the book and seen the film? going to watch the film tonight probably with mrsconsequence but can't imagine it'll be able to show the depth of introspection from the mother's point of view as well as the book can in the film... the biggest thing that makes the story interesting for me.

any parents read it?

I read the book some years ago and like you thought it was excellent. I've since recommended it to friends & family some of whom didn't enjoy it at all. I saw the Film recently and thought it was also excellent (you will of course know what's going to happen having read the book) but I thought it was very well done. Hope you enjoy it!

It is an excellent film. There are no surprise dinosaurs. Sorry if that's a spoiler.

Haven't read the book yet, but the film is excellent and did gain the author's approval even after she point blank refused to have anything to do with it.

i think knowing the casting of the film before reading the book may be to my advantage as i pictured the characters as i'll see them in the film.

I saw the film and then was inspired to read the book.

The film was excellent IMO and I simply wanted to eek some more out of the story hence I read the book two days later. Ultimately the film did the book justice I thought.

I read the book a few years ago

The film is very good too - certainly doesn't detract from the book

Film is very slow. My missus is an autism specialist and said the acting and direction was very good in terms of showing Kevin's behaviours but I'm afraid the slow pace made me lose interest very quickly and its pretty obvious where how it was all going to end.
