Surely no time in political history EVER has been such a ripe seam for political satire. We need the latex buffoonery that was Spitting Image. Come on ITV (or C4), bring it back.

Would have been great to see Blair, Brown and Mandelson given the treatment as well, though.

Unfortunately the current lot ar beyond parody and real life is more outrageous than anything you could make up.

Nah.

We tried to initiate our teenagers into the cutting satire that was Spitting Image.

We didn't expect them to "get it" as the obviously didn't know the cast - but the moment of self indulgence was quite revealing... Today's politicians are too one dimensional to bother making 3D latex puppets ๐Ÿ™

I don't think any episode of the Thick of It could even come close to the present farce. But lets have some Malcolm Tucker sweariness anyway...

Spitting image changed nothing. Tornes stayed in for 18 years. Over cosy and didn't seriously go at the issues. Colbert, Stewart and Oliver have done way better.

Spitting image changed nothing

Who said anything about it changing things? It was just frickin' hilarious.

If we do get it back, can The Daily Mash co-write the scripts?

they'd have been furious at having to bin pretty much all of their puppets over the last three weeks - then go rummaging in the skip the drag Boris back out again.

If we do get it back, can The Daily Mash co-write the scripts?

Only the first sentence. Does anyone read beyond the headline? ๐Ÿ™‚

Well Dead ringers on R4 has been fairly good, my particular favourite was JC promoting Niocola Murray into the Shadow Cabinet ๐Ÿ™‚

Innanuchi recently suggested that it would be pointless trying to satirise politics at the moment as anything that goes on in real life is so far beyond what satire could come up with, it would look limp by comparison.

e.g. Boris Johnson; Foreign Sec... (you literally couldn't make it up)
