did not expect that. germany didn't deserve to lose according to MM. i say they did - player rightly sent off, missed a pen and conceded a goal. unlucky!

The two teams playing right now are the teams that should qualify. Slovenia are clearly the quality team in the group.

Not sure I agree with that - they weren't exactly impressive in their first match and neither were the USA.

It was their cup final in many respects. A bit like Leeds United's FA Cup win against Manyuu earlier this year.

Tidy

EDIT: Now I have seen it again - 'keeper - you are allowed to use your hands you know!!!!! Guess he was readying to spread his arms when it took him by surprise by going straight over his head instead.

Germany have been totally over rated IMHO. They cruised against a very ordinary 10 man Oz side then looked ordinary themselves against a team that were prepared to believe that they could win the game.

You've got to play them all if you want to win it, so yes, I'd rather win the group and have the squad stay in their same base and face whoever finishes runner up in D.

Enough of the warm up, what time's kick off?

Seriously, this is pi55 poor, they look like a team that's never played together before. 0-0 would be a fair result.

Well that was very poor. Even if we get thru, we wouldn't last 5 minutes against some of the other teams that are gonna go thru if we play like that.

Even if we get thru

ever the optimist, eh?

If you can't score goals, you're not going to get far in a knockout competition. OK it's still a "league" format but...

Slovenia Played 2 won 1 drawn 1 points 4
England Played 2 drawn 2 points 2
USA Played 2 drawn 2 points 2
Algeria Played 2 drawn 1 lost 1 points 1

I can't see England scoring against Slovenia, so at best that's a draw. Only needs USA v Algeria NOT to be a draw & England are out. Even if it is a draw, USA would have SCORED more than England

That has to be the worst England performance I remember seeing in a World Cup finals - although the game against Cameroon in Italia 90 comes close, at least England found the back of the net in that one

Roll on August 7th

I'm just glad I have Brazil as my back-up team! My girlfriend has quite a few contacts and she was telling me today she has already started talking to them about getting tickets for 2014. Seems like I should now start planning ahead for that and rule out much more involvement in this world cup 🙁
