MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Looking for a waterproof, breathable, warm and reasonably priced winter coat.
I'm not a mountaineer so don't really see the need to be spending vast amounts on one but at the same time I don't want a boil in the bag that'll fall apart (or anything that looks rubbish).
I'm not sure whether a 3in1 coat will suit my needs or whether I should just buy a waterproof and fleece seperately.
I've been looking at the likes of Tog24 (lots of sales) and also the good deals at GoOutdoors on Sprayways etc.
Hoping around the £80 mark.
Anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks
I do some hill walking and wear Sprayway, usually bought in sales where the outer jacket is around £80-£100 and doesn't come with a fleece. personally very happy but be aware that there is no warmth in the outer only, you'll need to budget for a fleece as well. Interactive fleeces might be a bit more but are probably available from TK MAXX. TK usually have regatta fleeces and they're ok. Interactive - they can zip into the outer jacket, doesn't have to be the same brand - don't have a Sprayway fleece, so can't comment. Mine doesn't, so I have an extra zip to work (close the fleece, then the jacket) but being the big rough outdoorsy type, operating 2 zips isn't beyond my abilities.
Cheers BBSB - Sprayway looks to be the ticket so far:)
I got a tog 24 one a couple of months back, about 100 quid. Really pleased so far, water proof even in torrential rain and zip in fleece is very very warm. Probably wouldn't want to use it for scaling the Alps or crossing the Arctic, but certainly does everything I want it to.
Mate used it for skiing in the Alps too and was utterly satisfied.
Ended up with a Tog24 3in1 off ebay for £66 - seems to do the job:)
