Are there any VW aficionados from Cardiff on here?

My tranny seems to have just gone through meltdown, and I desperately need some advice!

No one?

What about someone in the vague vicinity?

Got a T5 but I'm no expert! Ring Euro performance in Pontyclun if you are still stuck tomorrow - advice from the owner Gareth has saved me a fortune over the VW dealership!

NG motors portmanmoore road lane are VW specialists. They should be able to sort you out.

@neilglover: It's a 2004 Polo (1.9 SDI).

It drove without a hiccup until today, when I dropped a friend off at the train station. After dropped him in the car park, I felt the gear shifter lose resistance in my hand, and when I tried to shift into reverse, I ended up going forward. Where reverse should have been was third gear, and where first would have been was fifth.

I got the thing home in third, but it smelled awful.

I've never had anything like that happen. Bizarre.

@Taxi25: Do you have experience of this place?

either snapped or slipped gear cable - there is a procedure to
reset - usually involves locking the gearbox selector and gear lever in a specific position and resetting cables - 15 minute job if there is nothing broken

not directly, but people I've picked up or dropped of there seem happy enough.

I been taking my T4 to them for years even after I moved from the area.
