After lunch at work yesterday I violently threw up. Large toilet, several people at Urinals & several stalls at red... I'm giving it Huey & spit for about 10 minutes on my knees in the disabled stall, not pleasant for anyone concerned. I went back to work but threw up again 2hrs later, left work & had to pull over to throw up again. Shortly after I got home it started out the other end. We reckon it's norovirus and the wife has quarantined me to the downstairs extension, there's a toilet and I spent the night on cushions on the floor waking every 2 hrs to wretch for 5 minutes and then turn round for a brown fart. 🙁 we have 10 month baby and we need to do everything we can to make sure she doesn't get it. I am feeling very weak & can barely move. Send help... message end....

just get in the bathtub, much easier to excrete from both ends.

Been there. Wasted the end of the week and weekend when myself and middle_OAB had to isolate ourselves at OAB_towers. 🙁

Thankfully, only we got it.

If it is norovirus its airborne transmission so very very infectious. what you have done is probably about as good as you can get. You have to do all the cleaning up of mess yourself and you can only speak to your wife thru the door!

If it's norovirus then it's mega contagious. Bleach in toilet every time you go and make sure the lid is down when you flush it or there will norovirus particles all over the bathroom. Wash hands, wrists and face after you've been sick. Don't eat anything until 24hrs after you were last sick or on the toilet.
AVOID DAIRY PRODUCTS for the next week. Sip boiled water and a little bit of flat coca cola. You will still be contagious for at least 48 hrs after showing symptoms.

+1 for the bathtub, horrible horrible thing, but it was over as soon as it came, necked a bottle of Metatone Tonic and was right as rain.

We had boxes of antispeptic wipes and gel on every corner of the house, individual towels etc probably a placebo but nobody else but me got it.

Just clean surfaces and make surre people wash their hands after contact there is no need for quarantine.

I feel your pain.
Just because one woman sent her daughter to nursery our friends daughter was then able to pass it on to us.
As we were staying in a hotel and missed flights , that coupled with having to pay staff to cover for us it cost us well over a thousand pounds.
I'd like to track down the soppy cow and infect her back.

My wife caught it from work when she was Pregnant, I was furious, but it seems it's no worse for Pregnant Women than anyone else and no danger to the Baby, wiped her out though.

I managed to swerve it.

Sound advice here. Had this twice in the last 12 months and it completely f*cked me. All with an 18 month old at home to. Not easy, you have my sympathy man! Ride it out, its unbearable but at least you know it wont last more than a few days. And keep out of the bath, that just sounds like making a bad situation worse. I'd rather be warm and dry than shi*ting myself to death in a cold bath full of vomit.

If it makes you feel any better, at christmas my two year daughter got it first followed by her five year old brother followed by father in law followed by mother in law followed by me followed by my parents and brother in law!! My wife managed to dodge it luckily :o)

All made worse by the fact that the in laws were staying with us in our small house with only one toilet! still boxing day evening was nice and crisp in the moonlit garden standing over a bucket.

good luck

Drac - its airborne spread is it not and the advice we have at work is quarantine is a must.

Having had workplaces with outbreaks a couple of times despite all possible precautions every member of staff caught it because of course we cannot avoid being in the same room as an infected person so we get it but we can isolate patients from each other and only about 2/3 of the patients got it.

You turn the hot shower on silly billy!

When watery piss is flowing like a river from both ends I couldn't think of anywhere I'd rather be.

I'm currently 48 hours into my personal poo-athon. Been feeling nauseous too, but not actually been sick yet. So it might be Norovirus, or I might just have your common-or-garden plague 🙁

OP you have my sympathies. I just want the gravy production to stop, and be able to eat something.

It doesn't have to be Norovirus. What did you eat in the six hours leading up to the attack?

Pretty sure it's not food poisoning, as my wife had the same things for breakfast, lunch and dinner as me, and has had no ill effects at all.
She might just have dodged the bullet though!

quarantine is a must.

Bit late for that in the OP's case - he's patient zero in a company-wide outbreak!

Doris.. that does make me feel better! 🙂
I've just been asleep since 11 and I feel a bit better. I've not chundered since about 10 so hopefully that's abated now. Still got the squits though and I had to quickly jump out of my makeshift bed when I had a fart plus 😯 we've all been there. I don't feel like watching tv or music or anything, all input is annoying...so I'm just gonna sit here and gently moan.... ooooohhhhhhhh

Currently off work with a really vicious flu bug - worst I've ever had. As well as all the usual flu fun I woke up this morning (after very little sleep due to alternate burning up / freezing), yawned, stretched, and shat the bed.

<sighs>

Norovirus is not airborne although if can be transmitted by aerosols iof vomit if someone touches where is lands. So long as tyre clean and wipe down surfaces, wash hands etc it will minimise transmission. Remember that antimicrobial hand washes take around 15-20s to actually work.

Yes. His house isn't a hospital though.

Well see Poah as keeping hands and surfaces clean reduces it to pretty much zero.

Quarantining you was a good idea. As above, still infectious 48hrs after symptoms end! Also, not killed by hand sanitizer- so wash hands with soap and water etc

"just get in the bathtub, much easier to excrete from both ends."

Nice tip. I've been nursing a 1yo with S+D today. Poor lad shot about a litre of poo over a rug at one point.

After reading this I've been changing him in the bath and it works a treat.

So thanks. Miraculous timing.

Jekkyl

On the dairy thing IME its COW milk products to be super careful of.

I had some horrendous double ender bug last year.

After 7 days ill and 3 good days i had a creamy desert. I was 'in-kazi-rated' again within 30 minutes for about 6 hours.

2-3 weeks of Pure sunflower spread and goat milk and cheese after gave no ill effects.

The worst bit about having it for me was not being sure which end to point at the khazi

When noro gets into a care environment its almost impossible for the staff not to get it as we have to clean up the mess from either end of the patients. When you are holding a bowl for someone to chuck up into and they have confirmed noro all you can do is stand there and think "darn it"

I can beat that. I was diagnosed with glandular fever, similar symptoms. I lost two stone in a week (from 11 to 9, didn't have a lot of stones to start with).

The worst bit about having it for me was not being sure which end to point at the khazi

That same bout, I gave thanks that my bog is diametrically opposite the sink. I could alternate between the two by rocking forwards.

I managed to vomit a wad of couscous and lodge it in my nasopharynx, no amount of snorting water direct from the tap would budge it. Every so often a piece of it would fall back into my mouth. Never eaten couscous since.

Horrible tales! Get well soon ! I recall many years ago being on an all inclusive sports holiday in Sardinia. The food was kept warm in an amateurish way and there were many flies around from some local wate tip. Most of the guests in the hotel went down with vomiting and diahhrea. Which lasted for most of our weeks holiday 🙁 When we got home my daughter continued to be ill and after tests at the local doc it was found to be salmonella. One of the most miserable weeks ever!

Wonderful tales!

How is the patient today? How is the bathtub? I imagine it has taken a real beating these past 48 hrs?

Apart from the fact you can make yourself incredibly ill by not getting rid of the toxins! fine for having a safe flight, not for taking for days on end

just had this but in two separate episodes. One Saturday night got gripes in stomach leading to rear ending violently in the middle of the night - didn't manage the event I had entered next day, but felt better quickly.
Ten days later I have an exact action replay except it was a double ender and it took me a few days before I felt better. The other half put the fear of god into me by suggesting it was the beginning of IBS! Hopefully not
