I've just noticed they are doing good deals and it seems they'd work better for me (no pointless £20 line rental) than Virgin, and at half the price I'm paying just now, how is their service?

I was looking at the 76Mbps deal for £24 x18 months

Just switched to that exact deal from Virgin, sick of their price increases and line interruptions.

Switch on date is Oct 18th, i took a punt on it just for the fact over the contract term it would save us nearly £260.

I've been with them for 12 to 18 months. No problems and my broadband has been 22M+ download speed (I had slightly higher with BT). Their router does seem to reboot more often than BT's router did but generally it's all been good.

their router is dire, however, if you just use it as a modem and hook up a decent AC wifi router to it it's good.

alternatively they are now giving out your login details so you can use your own router, though check compatibility first.

I have been with them ever since they took over demon. Hopeless help desk when things go wrong which for us has happened about three times in the past year. We were without any service for just about a week on one of those occasions. They also unilaterally dropped support for email addresses we had had for years without any corresponding drop in monthly payments.
Actively looking for alternatives at the moment

Moved over from BT to Voda and service was activated yesterday, 76MB fibre.

Some initial comedy getting the order processed and two routers were delivered which caused some issues yesterday as the service had been configured to ony work with one of them (I picked the wrong one to plug-in).

Initial feeling is that it's move responsive than with BT Infinity, early days yet though.

The modem/router is cheap but seems to have the capabilities I need.

This is why ISP-based email is generally a bad idea. You're humped if you ever want to move providers.

Used Vodafone many years ago and they were ok, but then withdrew from the market. At they likely to stick around again? I think the current pricing policy is nothing more than an attempt to grab some of the market after which prices will increase unless you bundle your mobile service with them. Ultimately the future is providers cutting across home phone/mobile/broadband and TV.

So, in the short term make use of the offer and watch out for price hikes and bundled services.

sick of their price increases

They all do it. Vodafone increased there prices this year, BT did and so did Virgin.

I think it's great, as you can use it to get a better deal, break a contract etc.

Cannot possibly be worse than TalkTalk broadband.

We literally cannot wait.

Just gone over to them (damn I wish I'd spotted the plusnet deal first!)

Anyway, yes the Huawei router looks and feels (and is) cheap. Seems to work ok though the interface is poor (and hate the strong branding.) I doubt most people care though. I think they are now allowing you to use your own so I'll get the info I need from them (annoying that it's not viewable via GUI.)

Speed seem ok. No worse than what I was getting from BT.

Has been dropping and reconnecting a lot over the first couple of days, though they did say this would happen and it should stop doing it.

Aye, mine dropped o and off for a wee while at the start blobby, seems to have stopped doing it now.

Been with them since start of september, as said above, the router is a bit shite, I don't have as good coverage as I did all over the house with the plusnet one, but I'll address that in time. Speeds are way quicker and cheaper too, oh and i have a Sonos play 1 coming to me today as part of the deal when I signed up, looking forward to getting a play with that.

Anyone find that the Vodafone broadband speed drops significantly in the evenings? Running speed tests gives me about 20 Mbps download during the day but dropping to low single digits during the evenings.

I was a trial customer (I work for them) and its generally not too bad. LLU where they can, BTOR where they can't. Service wise, for uptime/availability anyway, its as good as anywhere else.

Faults-wise, the teams that were brought in at the outset to look after it have had a fairly high retention level of staff, and they seem to be getting better all the time, so if something goes off they can actually help. UK based too.

Provisioning wise, its the usual VF problems. Even though its s new service with new platforms for provisioning, it ties in with existing accounts if a customer has these. As the account management side of the business was the root of the many justified complaints, this can let things down. This is getting sorted though.

Other than that, the usual BTW/BTOR provisioning problems beset them; postcodes and the gold/silver masters, that kind of thing. Line training is BT DLM based so should get the same results.

The routers aren't getting the love they should though. VF will now release the PPP username and passwords if asked, so I would replace it quickly with something better. Mines on something cheap acting as a bridge, with some Meraki firewalling kit acting as a PPPoE client, DCHP server, and firewall of course.

It's been good for business if you contract to vodafone 😉

I did wonder if that was part of my problem, was dropping the connection a dozen or so times a day, but that seems to have gone down significantly, maybe once or twice a day.

Speed now the issue. Was terrible all day, bit of a pain as I work from home and even audio conferences were impossible. Now better during the day but still terrible in the evenings.

Frustrating as I was with BT for years and never had any problems so assuming it must be the VF end.
