So Richard Branson is backing ex Honda team Brawn Racing

Big mix up in the cars all change and now new faces, might even watch, shame I'm down in Oz and I'm not going to get the fleetwood mac intro 🙁

Yep, the BrawnGP car now has a little virgin logo on the side and a few red bits.
I'm so looking forward to this season. The grid looks like it's been reversed from last year and shuffled around a bit.

Qualifying is just starting, so I'll get back to my tea and toasted cheese muffin.

Go BrawnGP! 🙂

Isn't Eddie short!

Maybe he has angry little man syndrome.

I think that Eddie may become an irritant.

Honda must be kicking themselves after paying for the development of the car.

That's funny. Everyone hated James Allen (the ITV bod) now he's missed. Jonathan Ledgard was poo mind. Brundle was good as was Coultard and the new poncy bloke. Please drop Eddie Jordan (from a great height), he was/is a pain. Which is best; Coultard or Jordan? There's only one way to find out.... That's it David, punch his lights out 😉

Commentary starts at 6:00am, though I wish they would give the actual race start time.

Remember the clocks go forward tonight too.

I think someone on the radio this morning said it was 7.00?

It's been said before but my God, some of those cars are hideous. Force India and the Renault seem to have been designed with pencils cut from the ugly tree. A lot of them (the Brawn for example) remind me of GP2/F2/F3000/F.Nippon cars.

Go Button, been struggling with second rate machinery for too long.

lets hope Button wins... He certainly deserves it.

Hamilton will be starting from the back. Sounds like the Gbox is banjaxed.

Rumours are that Branson will be buying into the team within the next 2-4 weeks... So Button and Rubens might be riding in a Virgin! 🙄

Yep, about time he had a chance to do something and I reckon he'll grab it with both hands.

Brawn GP sounds crap. They should just rework the name slightly, and then they could attract seafood production companies to sponsor them. Would actually go down really well in Oz, too.

No, they have to declare weights before the race now:

What I meant to say was BrawnGP should sack their graphics fella - the spacing between the R and A is awful!!

Probly waiting for some proper sponsorship so left the car as a blank canvas.

I remember someone saying last year that this years hondas (Braun) were going to be something quote special.

Not sure the British public will get behind Jenson in the same way as Lewis as Jenson has abit of the posh brit syndrome similar to what old Tiger Tim Henman had.

Just did (for scientific reasons ;¬)). Surely some mistake as most of them were not virgins.

Well if Virgin are involved Jenson is Screwed. Pitstops will require a phone-call to India where he'll be told to switch it off, wait, and then switch it on again. He'll have to wait in all day for new tyres. A disaster.
When he's done half the laps the speed limiter will cut in and he'll be touring for the next 5 hours. 😯

I'm not sure button derserves it or not. The BrawnGP cars are clearly the fastest at the moment which is where the credit is deserved. Button hasn't shown hismelf to be a particulatly good driver over the last few years despite his cars. Good show to the BrawnGP team for kicking everone eleses ass but there are far superior drivers IMO way down in the line up (Hamilton, Alonso, Raikkonen, Massa), who have fallen foul of their teams not reaching the required grade.

If Virgin sponsor the team, does that mean the pt crew will sport sassy red outfits, orange skin and offer the driver a hot towel with every pit stop? And when the drivers get out of the car, will they take with them some cheap headphones and a bag containing a comb, a toothbrush and a shoehorn?

Sure he does, why wouldn't he? I think he's shown himself to be a pretty talented driver indeed the times his car/team have been anywhere near on the pace. It's easy to blame the cars, but Button has so far never had the quickest or anywhere near the quickest car until now. Now he has, he's showing that he is capable of doing it justice.

Indeed, and this is why these new rule changes have been a welcome breath of fresh air. You get to see, albeit briefly usually, lesser teams and drivers mixing it up with the big boys because their design team got it right first time. Button deserves this moment IMO, I'm not going to argue he's as good as Lewis Hamilton (he's not), but he is a talented guy that for most of his career to date has had a car not quite worthy of his ability for the mostpart. Should be an interesting race tomorrow though!
