Just acquired a pair of 120 folding cameras and am gonna run some film through them, colour and black and white.

Anyone else got any they are using or have used?

I've a few cameras, I inherited them from my Father, and use quite a few of them.

I'm not sure what counts as vintage, but I inherited my late father's bought from new 1954 Carl Zeiss Contax IIIa 35mm Rangefinder with 5cm f/1.5 Sonnar and 13.5cm f/4 Sonnar lenses.

That's only about a third of the cameras I have!

I love the engineering but the main film camera that goes everywhere with me is my Olympus OM2n alongside a far more modern Olympus E3

I try and compete in Talk Photography's film competition when I can and love the difference film brings to a subject.

😯

I currently have:

Nikon F5, F801s, FM2; Pentax K1000, Vivitar V2000, Zenit Lomo LC-A, Olympus Trip 35 and 35SP, a Polaroid 66 100, and a Minolta Weathermatic A 110. Nowt too exciting or even that old really.

Used to work with a mate of mine who had a little market stall selling second hand cams and stuff. He had all sorts of wonderful things; Contaxes, Leicas, Rolleiflexes, Hasselblads, Nikons, Canons, Olympus, Pentax, all manner of folders, SLRs, TLRs, rangefinders, compacts, even the odd plate camera.

Some of me fave cams include:

Canon T90, Nikon pro F series (F to F5), Pentax Auto 110 Super, Leica III, Contax RTS3, Minolta 7000i, Hasselblad 501, Olympus XA, mostly modern stuff really. Do like some of the old rangefinders and that though; Nikon S and Canon rangefinder cams. The odd medium format too, like yer Pentax 67, what a beast that was.

Probbly never bin a better time to collect recent 'old' cams, 80s and 90s stuff. Money though, innit? Not to mention space, insurance, etc.

Here's a small selection of my camera gear - or the analogue stuff at least.... The 2nd drwer down, you can just see my 120 TLR Rollei - lovely square negs / slides.

Very jealous of that Contax ^^^

Any suggestions for a basic and inexpensive 35mm camera to start playing around with film please?

Pentax K1000. The standard 35mm camera used by most colleges for teaching for the last 30 years!

I've got a 56 Zeiss-Ikon Contina II rangefinder camera here somewhere. Need to get the last couple of rolls of film I did with it developed but it's a lovely camera.

Took a few pics on this till the shutter packed in:

It's a 1938 Kodak Junior, it was my grandfathers first camera. Takes '620' film which is the same width as 120 but on a different reel. I rolled some 120 onto an old 620 reel for this.
Here's a shot I did on the first test roll:

Shame I didn't get any creative shots before the shutter went. I've tried repairing it but theres a lot of springs and cams and things in there!

My 'go everywhere with me' camera is my trusty Olympus OM.

vdubber67, the cheap camera does depend if you have a digital SLR already or are interested in buying one in the future,

If I were starting out (and I'm an Olympus user) I'd buy into either Canon or Nikon.

For me I'd look out for something like a nice little Nikon EM, £40 or so on ebay and a nice little 50mm f1.8 for around the 25-35 mark too.

If you keep an eye out you can sometimes pick up the camera and lens for the £40 all in one.

Phil Watson, which OM SLR do you use?
