Hi all,

I currently have a Raspberry Pi for streaming duties. It works well but the analogue audio output is terrible (I'm not a HiFi snob - it really is awful!) and my wife struggles to use XBMC etc.

All my music is ripped into Apple lossless and stored on an Iomega NAS. I also have a few MKVs. The NAS will be connected to the streamer with Cat5e

I'm getting a Blu Ray player anyway so I figured why not get a Blu Ray player that can also work as a DLNA streamer. On paper most of the £150+ players can stream Apple lossless, MKVs etc but the general consensus from AVForums etc is that they're not great. Stability issues, interface issues etc

Any suggestions for a streaming Blu Ray player with decent audio quality, pref with iPhone or iPad control app?

After lots of research I'm thinking the technology is too new and I'm better off getting a dedicated music streamer and sticking with the RPi for video/Youtube/Airplay...

What are you playing audio to (and why analogue)?

My ageing Sony BD player hasn't missed a beat streaming anything I've thrown at it so far. Not sure what "not great" means exactly, maybe it's not as good as lossless 7.1 TrueHD but it's certainly not "bad" either.

My ageing Sony BD player on the other hand regularly struggled with some of my media and had an awful UI as well. It was OK 3 years ago when all this was new to me, but I'm much happier using iTunes shared libraries and Apple TV now.

@cougar- I play music through an old (but still pretty good) stereo system. I output everything via HDMI to the tv, then use the analogue outputs on the TV to feed the amp. The tv DAC ain't great but it's miles better than the RPi DAC.

Apple TV3 is too restrictive and jailbroken ATV2s are going for £280!

Shared libraries works well but it means leaving my laptop on all the time, which I don't want to do.
