Stayed here a couple of times. Possibly not the most "Venetian" accomodation ever, but still the nicest hotel I've stayed in. It's maybe 2 minutes from the Accademia Bridge, then 5 minutes by Vaporetti, or not much over 10 minutes on foot to San Marco. Good restaurants locally too.

We stayed at Centurion Palace. It was pricey but super nice. Just across the Grand Canal from San Marco.

We stayed here last May

http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=it&u=http://www.veniceresidence.it/&ei=IFKOT-eQI8Tf8APCmMXNCw&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CDAQ7gEwAA&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dvenezia%2Bresidence%2Bgiudecca%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26tbo%3Dd

Not a hotel but a big apartment in in the same building as the Hilton Molino Stucky Hotel on the island of Giudecca. Absolutely amazing views from the rooms of the Giudecca canal. Fairly pricey, as is all of Venice but miles better value than the hotels.

It's a free 5 minute boat ride to St Marks square (every 15 mins) and every morning staff leave a basket of fresh food and coffee for the espresso maker outside your door. Loved it.
