Anyone else have this delight? I know others have far more significant health issues, but I am not looking forward to this one.

I started yesterday, due to Hemochromatosis. 500ml for the next 6 weeks. Likely then 500ml+ a fortnight, for the rest of my days.

The 'needle' was more akin to a crochet hook in size - apparently to speed the process up. That is some bruise I am sporting this morning at needle entry and a nip from the tourniquet.

Sounds like blood donation, only more frequently! So yes, I know what that feels like 🙂

Do they chuck the blood away or put it into the blood bank?

Yep had another one last Friday, Hemochromatosis & High Haematocrit. Been on this for the last 4 years, sometimes its ages between vampire trips other times less so?

Don't mind needles most of the time but it can sting a bit. Mind you since mid-October I've had 10 needles including 4 cannulas jabbed into me so I'm sort of immune to it now. Apart from the nurse who missed with one canula and injected Hydrocortisone into the surrounding tissue, that really hurt like hell. She avoid me after that!

Good luck with getting it under control Matt, do you know if its hereditary?

They just bin mine TJ

Majority is apparently lobbed. Each let is only a small amount - not a full blood bag. And it is over full of red blood cells.
Apparently they are now trying to do more with it - ironically the blood product mrs_oab is on could be created from the waste blood. Except hers is shipped in from 'merica.

Yes.
🙁

Yep - brother was diagnosed as part of a health screening for a new job in NZ and that triggered an email to the wider family to say 'get checked'. Of 36 cousins, 26 of us have it.
