MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Hello anyone willing to listen,
We have a 55 plate Corsa with the 3 cylinder 1lt "eco drive" engine and semi-auto gearbox with a little problem.
The engine emissions warning light has come on (steadily, not flashing) which apparently means lambda sensor or mass airflow sensor problems (not that long since it was serviced so assuming stuff otherwise ok).
Anyone swapped either/both of these, are they a faff? Any cheap suppliers of parts? Anything else I should consider.
It is booked in for £35 of diagnostic check at the place we got it from next week and going to get a friendly RAC chap to come and look before that but have I missed anything?
Any really easy things to do to fix/diagnose the problem?
My fiancees chariot is in your hands.
When my lambda sensor caused my Fiesta to fail an MOT on emissions, the test centre cleaned it, retested the car and it passed. Apparently, that particular engine was known for clogging up the sensor.
Does your fiancee give it the beans at all?? COuld be that not revving it that much/often has caused the sensor to get reet filthy.
I wouldn't drive it for too long without getting it sorted. Mate of mine ignored a faulty lambda sensor for a while and the resulting mismanagement of air/fuel has knackered his cat. New cat for his car - £1200!!!
google (talk to my car) I bought a fault code reader for £25 it gives you the codes in a book. And it has a reset button on it .I had a cat fault and reset it has not came back since (6 months ago)
She does when she can 🙂 but it is a fairly short commute, and recently everything has been fairly steady, she came home on the motorway for a change specifically to give it some in the hope that that was all it needed but it was all just doing 40mph.
Might try a blast tonight but it is not generally molly coddled.
Is that a universal thing Mark? Interested in selling it on? 🙂
p.s. you near that awesome wheel on the canal. Now that is a great bit of engineering!
Just asked, it did get some beans on the way home 🙂
You have about 4 or 5 different systems you should be able to get the seller to tell you what system you have /or how to find out. Vauxhall do seem to have their own system but I saw a vauxhall one on ebay for £25 +post. They really are a piece o piss to use.
Am about 2 miles from Falkirk wheel and the same from some good riding
If you're near glasgow I can put it on my laptop and check/clear the codes for you.
J
Might have to investigate that Mark.
Thanks coffeeking, nr Chesterfield though.
