I regret the surgeon puncturing my right testicle with the crochet hook that they pull the tubes out with.
I regret screaming in pain on the operating table when the clown done it.

Meh, I've said it on here before, my surgeon was struggling to hook one of the tubes, so threatened to send me home "half cock".... His words and mirth, not mine.
He was informed in no uncertain terms by myself that having prepared the last turkey in the shop and exposed myself to the indignity of the operating table that was accidently left open by the nurse allowing half of Sheffield that were stood in the corridor to see me at my lowest ebb at that moment, I had kept my side of the bargain, and he better too... So get on with it and don't pussy around...
I had a vasectomy a week last Friday. I experienced a small amount of discomfort for a couple of days after the op but all good now.
This thread nearly put me off the op altogether but pleased I went ahead now :).

Well that's your problem right there. Generally speaking, vasectomies aren't performed on pussies
some burning smell on the table but no after effects that I can remember. Had it done at Marie Stopes for about £400.
Hey TurnerGuy, do Marie Stopes use the clamps, or is it just seal both ends? Do they offer GA or just local?

eotb9090 - I had the op at Marie Stopes on the 9th March.
They seal both ends under local anaesthetic. It was over in 15 minutes. I was surprised when the nurse told me she was going to do the right side next as I did not even realised she has done the left pipework :).
I had a couple of days discomfort and that was it. I did my first road ride last Saturday with no pain. Today was my first mtb ride and all was good.
I think the main thing is to completely rest for the first couple of days.

No regrets at all but my left bollock really was impossibly sore for about 10 days, largely because the doctor, just as he was finishing the ‘act’ said “I’m just going to do that one again” 😕
...oh, and not forgetting the two nurses who came into the room where I was getting dressed and said they needed to check everything was okay.

Had the snip 3 years ago at the age of 39. The better half and i had 2 kids together already, and had zero desire for a third as wanted to 'get on' with life as such as kids were 15 and 8 at this point. A false scare made the decision for us - not a single day of regret since. I was back on the road bike (admittedly with 2 pair of shorts) after 7 days and haven't had any pain at all since, despite the horror stories you hear about.
Burning smell was off putting, as was the fact the doc was running really late and hurrying.
No real issues though, 2 days in bed, 2 to 3 weeks off the bike.
After previously reading this thread numerous times I’ve finally joined the jaffa club.
Had it done a couple of days ago. All straight forward apart from the surgeon disappearing for 20 minutes just as he was lining up to start. Bit strange just lay there with my modesty exposed discussing tumble driers with the two young female nurses and a male nurse waiting for him to come back.
Left side felt very little discomfort, right side it felt like my surgeon was attempting to pull my stomach out through my scrotom 🙂
Still walking like I’ve followed through but things are (very) slowly getting back to normal.
Lying on the sofa for the first two days post-op is the trick to good recovery. I obviously ignored this and trimmed the garden hedge (not a euphemism) the day after leading to big, purple, hilarious and painful knackers.

I had mine done on a Wednesday and on the Saturday I came 3rd in a 30 mile fell race. Swimming trunks and hankues under mg shorts but no real problems.
Failed for me and I had a month of antibiotics due to an infection.
I was due to have it under local, but on the day the surgeon had a feel and decided a GA was best for him and me as the tubes were not best positioned.
I was careful with rest, ice and everything you're supposed to do but ended up with an infection in one of the incisions. I know someone with the same surgeon and that day who got and infection too.
I was offered another operation, but nope, I didn't fancy that.
Booked in for June. The clinic keeps ringing with short notice cancellation appointments but I keep putting it off! My 40’s proved I was a virile sexual tyrannosaurus and at 47 I should really close my innings at 3 kids but I keep having doubts 😆
All good for me (one week on). I've deliberately been taking it easy as it seems most who complain of problems got back on the horse/bike/horticulture/fell-running too soon. Op itself was a breeze (45 mins from door in to door out) with no pain or discomfort (or maybe I'm nails) and 24 hours later in the shower I couldn't even find the scar at first! Plenty of ibuprofen and paracetamol regardless of pain and discomfort for 3-4 days.
I did the nekkid bounce test today and I can still feel a tidge of discomfort but all being well I'll be back on the bike again the middle of next week (two weeks off).
The only regret my wife’s boss has had was it’s success rate is only 97%, cue third child come September..
An old work mate once told us if u think a vasectomy hurts have it reversed, he said he needed a wheelbarrow to carry his nuts in, they were that swollen ;0)

Other than that, no longer term issues. Always surprised by the stats for problems, amongst my circle of friends, most of us have had it, no one has mentioned long term problems.

I vaguely remember that a week or so after it was done I thought it was fine so went for a ride and it wasn't ok but another week and it was fine.

I had mine done on a Thursday afternoon, and on the following Saturday I came third in a 26 mile mountain race - on foot. Never felt a thing.

I did race the Boltby bash, so 2 days back to back riding 2 weeks after. Follow the advice further back in this thread, at least 2 days of lying in the sofa, RICE and tight pants and you'll probably be alright

I was totally fine after two weeks, however I had two days of doing nothing post-op, wore the correct pants, and bar a couple of spins up and down the road following a bit of bike maintenance in the second week I steadfastly stayed away from the bike or any other exercise. From chatting it seems to me that you'll only have trouble if you defy the doctors order because you know better (doc recommended two weeks before bike).
No idea why anyone would have the snip in summer or the middle of the ski season though.... 😉

I would, you might be in the 'didn't feel a thing' camp, or you might be in the 'I've never known white hot pain like it' camp, or somewhere in between.
Personally I took a short ride about 10 days after mine, it was a bit sore at the start, about a KM in I was thinking I might throw up, but I managed about 10k I think. Descending was fine, it was climbing.

With all surgery you are playing a numbers game. If you end up on the right side you are laughing. The wrong side and it can be a lifetime of pain/regrets.
I had a 'necessary' routine procedure and it went wrong and I will have a reduced quality of life now for the rest of my life. The odds were 1000's:1. Surgeon who did it has never spoken to me since.

Most forms of long term contraception carry a risk, it's just that it's 'normally' a woman taking that risk.
Had one in 2013, 5 samples later and it hadn't worked.
Second one in late 2013 and worked.
Paracetamol and ibuprofen for 24 hours and that was it.
Went through a bit of pain whilst standing to attention for a little while but soon subsided.
I'm now 45 and I can't go anywhere without wanting to P and in the last few weeks started to leak a little after using the loo.
I was told it could be down to the snip but possibly my age.
Had tests and my P stream is weak, offered tamsulosin but the side effects scared the life out of me. Back to PC muscle exercises and cut cafeine out

Had mine done 2 years ago at 31. in, 20 mins either side and out again, tight pants and some brufen for a week and I was right as rain, back in work that afternoon.
Only downside so far is slightly tended plumbs, I can't take a knock like I used to....
Snip was fine...and even knocked one out the day after! 🤣
Only pain was after a day snowboarding about 12 days later when my balls felt like watermelons after! 😭
2 years for me, very little pain or any issues, but I have suffered from very low T that was only discovered about 3 years ago, my doctor reckons I could have been suffering for a very long time, like, many years. After blood tests over a few months, I was referred to an Endocrinologist, this was a godsend. My levels were 0.6, so the Endo put me on Nebido injections every 10 weeks. My levels are now between 24-26 and I feel a completely different guy. I'm happy and horny, plus the girlfriend is well impressed.

Had mine done 20 years ago. Got an infection in the tubes and one of my testicles swelled up badly. Really bad pain for quite a while. The swelling didn't go down so...without any anaesthetic they decide to draw some of the fluid out.I think its called a hydrocele, fluid around the offending organ. Filled a syringe with goo...most pain I've ever felt. Was never happy, had a pulling sensation unless I wore tight undies so I paid private and had it reversed/sorted out. Everyone else I know that's had it done has been fine so the 1 in 10 is probably about right. if you know 9 other folks who have had it and been ok I'd leave it!.

All fine. Its very much the reasonable and grown up thing to do- getting my wife off 20 years of the pill. No regrets. Although the experience itself was odd.
2 years ago for me. No regrets, back to work the day after and no significant pain except my 3yr old son kicking me in the nuts on day 4 post op.
I'm on Tamsulosin for poor stream, no major side effects noticed here, sometimes see a few stars if I sit up quick after sleep but that's it. Though apparently you can reverse ejaculate into your bladder!
