I'm due to star working in Basel, Switzerland in a months time & wondering what's the best approach for mobile phone use?
Do I get a Swiss sim card/mobile, or will that mean the folks back home pay the charges from/to a foreign mobile?
Anyone have experience with the iMessage thing working internationally?

Thanks.

We iMessage and FaceTime regularly between here and Slovenia without issue or cost.

Thanks, is that with you both using wi-fi, or is it free over the phone network too?

If you get a local sim you can use mobile broadband at a local rate (ie cheap) and then use iMessage / Facetime etc to chat to your family etc.

My daughter is in Romania, the local sim card is a cheaper option than the UK one but she makes a lot of use of Skype and Whatsapp too.
