[Closed] Upgrading Triple chainset on Trek Marlin 7 (2015)

Hello,

I'm looking to change my chainset on my trek marlin 7 and originally was looking at a single chainset. However, I think I'd be better served to change it to a double, which can have a ring removed if I so wish. I've had it suggested to me that I should change to Shimano SLX M675 HollowTech II Double Chainset or Shimano Deore M615 HollowTech II Double Chainset. Is this a good plan? Or is there a specific chainset I should fit? Longer term I'll probably change the 9-speed cassette to 10-speed.

I like to use the bike for trails, but would use it on a longer road journey as well (I've got the single speed I built for the short journey to work), to give some information about my usage of the bike
