My £10 kitchen click has had better days so now on the hunt for another clock for the kitchen - any recommendations greatly appreciated.

We've got a modern cuckoo clock like this.
It's not actually a cuckoo that...cuckoos every hour(during daytime), but just kind of happy tweetage of generic birds.

My partner got it and she loves it. Each time it tweets I tell her that it reminds me that, that's another hour of my life gone that I'll never get back.
But yeah, it's quite nice and quirky.

I think @rich_s is winning so far, an Elvis sarcophagus clock, with an English country scene behind the hands.

The pinnacle of haute contemporary design!

And is that a poop emoji on the bottom? 😀

Beautiful but useless for many.

Ideal for those a long way from the coast.

I just have an Echo (not one with a clock display but you could if you want) and just ask Alexa the time but far more useful is being able to set multiple timers etc. when cooking + playing music.

My recommendation would be for a Kilburg Geochron with a suitable finish to match your kitchen. Always wanted one of these myself but like having friends; im not allowed:o)

We have one of those ‘cuckoo’ clocks @kayak23 shows. In a lighter grey/blue. Sounds more like a blackbird than a cuckoo but it is delightful.

In our kitchen we have an Alexa-linked Mickey Mouse clock. Fairly big and has a countdown timer display.

I suppose really answer to the OP's question is "what for?"

If you just want to tell the time, you have a phone or could go old-school with a wris****ch. If you're using it as a kitchen timer then exactly as you say, an Echo or similar is perhaps a better option.

I have a pair of Echos and a regular clock in the kitchen. The clock is broadly there because I already had a clock and there was a nail in the wall when we moved in, but it does come in handy as a backup when I forget to say "Alexa, set a timer for 20 minutes."

Absolutely, always loved these.

There is now a cheap option, $500 for a unit that plugs into to a screen and will display aircraft, weather, satellites etc.

I've got this barometer clock in my kitchen. I check the time on it er, all the um time! Cos it's big and visible (and analogue). And in a place that is easy to glance up at from all over the house (Well, in the kitchen or front room, anyway).
Couldn't live without it. I'd literally die.

Anyway, that Elvis Tutankhamun clock ad has had me in tears. Good ol Viz 😂

If you just want to tell the time, you have a phone or could go old-school with a wris****ch. If you’re using it as a kitchen timer then exactly as you say, an Echo or similar is perhaps a better option.

Well, the cooker clock is almost impossible to set because the stupid little buttons don’t work properly, and Joey didn’t wear a watch all the time, so the clock on the kitchen wall was essential for her when she was cooking, she absolutely relied on it, and she’d notice immediately if the battery started to run low.
She also never carried her phone around.

I wear a watch, and my phone has an always-on display but if I’m in the kitchen I always check the wall clock for the time, same as I always check my watch instead of my phone - the kitchen clock has been there longer than mobile phones have been around, and I’ve been wearing a wris****ch for around sixty years so it’s just not a natural thing to do, checking a phone in my pocket.

Yes what the op really wants is a sundial, but that's no good in this clime with the turning of the season(ing). Correct answer is emigrate.

In what climate is a sundial useful on the kitchen wall?

Unless it's an outdoor kitchen...
