When I was a trainee lawyer, we had to constantly form "shell" companies for a particular client (a ****ing big one too), which was continually restructuring. We'd have to pick temporary names ourselves, until such times as we got round to changing them to something more appropriate for the client when they were adopted. The aim was to see how far we could push it without getting caught.

There were a few good ones, but I can't put them up here, a simple CH search would reveal them 🙁

It was all just word play stuff, nothing too outrageous, but still, that's about as interesting as the law ever got for me!

That's "Hotel Columbus" (as in Christopher) in Spanish. I always find the "Ars" cafe in Madrid airport amusing.

In a similar vein there's www.therapistfinder.com

Also, the classics,

www.speedofart.com

and

www.whorepresents.com

Closer to home, I always wondered if www.hollandspies.co.uk was a Dutch espionage site.

I once worked for a firm where we took over another that was called Letcher and Scorer.

Surprisingly, despite promises made, their name was quietly dropped from the headed paper rather swiftly.

It is funny though...

Somehow I think it is they who think the name is (now) unfortunate.

delicately named Coon cheese

Probably a contraction of "raccoon".

In field archery, night-time competitions are known as "coon shoots". It's an Americanism and refers to hunting racoons.

Probably a contraction of "raccoon".

Named after the founder, I think, some chap whose surname is Coon. Only in Australia.

ah, i forgot about this one.

My mate Pez with his favourite cheese in a chairlift somewhere in Mayerhofen in 2006 during a K2/Ride test trip. That was the only thing to bring a smile to our hungover heads that day.

There's a motorbike dealership on the Isle of Wight called Dave Death. Always thought it was an inauspicious-sounding place to be buying an inherently dangerous mode of transport from

"Mum, I've saved up my paper round money, I'm 16, can I buy a moped?"

"Who from?"

"Dave Death".

"That'll be right!"

I think some of those riders are not on that track...

There is a scaffolding co in Leeds who have "best erections in town" on their trucks. There also used to be "mr shammys handjob" a hand car wash, but that shut down.

Not quite a company name but when in France on holiday I picked up some sponge backed scouring pads and they were called tampons. I took a pic but cant find it at the moment.

I mean these.

We used to deal with a German company and despite us recommending they changed their name they wouldn't. Unsurprisingly they never really took off over here.

An ex-girfriend particularly liked their scrumpy style beverage, but be warned, it is pretty strong! She always used to say that once she had had a large Cock Inn cider she would go all tingly and lightheaded.
